after leaving the witness does anyone here believe satan exists?
if yes do you think if we "gave" satan some kind of a challenge to prove he exists would it happen?
if he is so hell-bent on proving jehovah/ witnesses wrong would he go to such great lengths to make sure ppl turn away?
nah....i don't believe he does. when i was 17 or something, i got a bunch of ''satanic'' books from the library and snuck one of my friends pentagram necklaces home in my backpack. when my mom finally when to bed, i laid on the floor surrounded by the books with the pentagram around my neck. i asked that if satan was real to show a demon or something to me or give me a nightmare.
one hour later nothing happened. and i dreamed about being a power ranger.........which technically is a nightmare....but not what i was looking for.
so no...i have lost all faith in god, jeebuz, and da debuhl.

the latest wt of september 1 2005 has another example of what i now call "the rug pull" where words are used cleverly to blame the flock for their own flagging spirit.
the mag is "why it pays to be loyal" (not good or kind but that's another thread.
the setup comes on page 16 para 13: .
i had to sit through those experiences at the convention, i was wondering, did any of you used to be one of those people on stage giving an experience about how something miraculously happened like getting the exact amount of money you needed to pay your rent on the day it was due?
i always hear the stories, but can anybody actually tell me something like this has happened to them when they were a good little witness?
and if it has, did these sort of "events" stop taking place after you left?
ButterflyCharmer - your car story reminded me of a (probably Urban Legend) story I heard at the KH as a child. Desperate JW's answered an otherwise ignored advertiement for a car that was TOOOOO cheap (disgruntled wife selling husband's car at knock-down price) - was JEHOVAH making car available for HIS people.
OOO-OOO-OOO!!!!!!!!!!! i was going to post about that one! when the experience was given at our hall they made it out as if it were two local pioneers. apparently they needed a car, so they saw one in the paper advertised for like $100 or something. they go to the house and it's this huge mansion where a nice litttle old lady living there. they ask her about the car and she takes them out back to the garage. there before their very eyes is like a beautiful, practically new mercedes or bmw or something. they ask the lady why it's only $100 and she says that her in her husband's will, he stated that whatever money came from selling the car was to go directly to his mistress. did the experience differ at your hall midwich?? i've always wondered about this one. to me it sounds like a joke that they modified to suit the masses. load of sh!t. luv, jojo
while reading through some threads, i sometimes wonder what my life would have been like if i had stayed a jw and had kids.
i now have a 23 month old son, that's very active, i can not begin to imagine what torture it would be for both of us to attend meetings or go out in field service.
i would be expected to keep him still the whole time without toys, snacks, books or any sort of distraction at all, except maybe the my book of bible stories.
But I do get a chuckle from those who put their kids on leashes...
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!! my mom used to actually put me on one of those. it fit around my wrist and gave me about 3 feet of freedom. haha! i had forgotten all about that...i can't blame her of course for doing it. i have always had a very short attention span and would easily wander off and forget where i was coming from.
thanks for the laugh!

i think that's what finally drove my mom over the edge...imagine raising 4 kids practically w/ no support from a husband...plus having to raise them up under the borg....
i'm so glad i'm out.

i've heard from the "society" that prescription drugs under a doctor's care is acceptable regarding the "keep your body clean" excuse they give smoking.
what about medicinal marijuana, which is legal in some states and gaining popularity?
i've checked the dub "library" and found very little.
someone gave a talk on that once at my old hall. it was some crap about comparing it to a blood transfusion and how we should wait on jehomah's new system to cure our pain.
gag me with a spoon
