  How can anybody KNOW god?

  humans are to ants what god is to humans..... at least, that is how i see it.. ants can't know humans or entertain theories and ideas or myths about humanity.. if we step on an anthill they don't mourn and bury their dead and send prayers up to us.. we are just one more thing they have to deal with.. humans don't become an ant and live among them and die at their bidding only to rise and save a few for later reward.. humans don't help a select few ants write a wonderful and inspiring ant bible to enlighten and bond with us.. ants are extremely different from humans and the twain simply don't meet.

  we barely tolerate their existence!.

  but, we humans are convinced god is a guy in the sky.

  Any Ex-JW's in The Dallas, TX DFW area?

  hi guys, i'm new to the forum.

  i'm looking for anyone in the dallas area that has left jw's for any reason and has since learned the real truth about the watchtower and jw doctrine.

  i've never been involved with jw myself, but my fiancee grew up as a jw and is having thoughts of going back.

  a dear member of my congregation gives his testimony from shite muslim to christian.

  emery told me once that his father told him that the only reason he's still alive is because of the laws of the u.s. otherwise he'd be required to kill him.. kinda puts puts jw shunning in a "new light"..... somebody always has it worse.

  kinda lenghty but well worth it.

  The Lord lite him up....yup, sounds real good, God gets em. As to the offecier who died you hve no idea about his faith, or standing before God. If you claim to, you are judging another with your born-again sounds like jw claptrap.

  Theself-abandonment that is necessary to know God is explicitly described by God...   Eh?...Does anyone see the conflict between these two narritives said to be the words of Jesus? Terry observes a shepard ( Jesus ) that leaves 99% of his flock to rescue one stray. The shepards only thought being to retrive the one lost. Bringing it home to the warmth and shelter of the others.

  Perry observes the oppisite. You must HATE your family, even yourself and surrender ( self- abandon ) to Jesus in order to be his disciple. Remindes me of a Mafia Boss who demands total, complete subjection. This is love, living YOUR life to the whim of another that is supossed to bring peace and fullfilment? I don't think so. High powered sprit, or not. "To be emoty of SELF is to not exist"...( T )

  The Creator is benvolent, kind and loving, One who has no need to be chaneled through a spirit, or person. God is there, we are here. A coming togather can happen. Doesn't have to be the Bible God. There is no need for a special mediator, nor must the blame be on you. Something the Bible and religion does very well.

Each born again Christian gives personal objective testimony of the personal revelation of God once they have denied their own right to exist eternally and accepted Jesus as Lord of their life. To the unsaved this may appear subjective; but to the hundreds of millions that have done this, it is a purely objective matter - easily observed objectively I assure you....Perry

  I see, so YOUR subjective born again testimony of a personel subjective revelation of God subjectivly accepting Jesus as Lord of your life becomes objective, if that abstract thinking has become objective for you that's fine, don't doubt your faith Perry. Do contend that a subjective experence does not make it objective because you say so.

  God is not something to be obesrved in a test tube. He is a person that dynamically reveals himself and interacts with those that seek peace with him..... that statment I agree with.

  through the Son, and the Son alone.. that statment I do not. That's like saying I have to pay an extra toll charge to get my massage through. God revels Himself to an individual as he wills. What do I know though, that statement is just as subjective as yours. Good thread Terry, catch you guys tomorrow.

  Does God speak to you? HOW?

  an answer to this question is subjective to the individual an a posteriori experiene.

  however, can there be an a priori experence, one that is objective, outside the bounds of personel experiene, or does it remain subjective?

  god speaks to me, through many venus, except audible.

  Is refreshing isn't it. For me intersesting as well. It has given me a mature prespective about individuals. For whaterver reason no trolls, or whack jobs have made an apperance on this thread. Some have displayed more passion than others, while some have been matter of fact. Been a well balanced disscussion.

  Don't have to be Christian to feel the Creator in your life. One day you'll wake up, sit on the edge of your bed and say hmmm, isn't that interesting, how bout that. You and God will come togather, it will happen. In the mean time keep doing what your doing. Enjoy life as it comes to you.

  there is a creator, but no oposite number, no satan.

  Boy, it would take a WHOLE LOT of writing about satan for me to even begin. For the record I do not belive Satan exist as an entity. I feel the same as lesabre and jam. Revelations was one of the last books to be included in the Bible cannon. Many Church Fathers opposed it. Don't think there's much more I can say. Thanks all for your comments, most interesting to read.
