  Does God speak to you? HOW?

  an answer to this question is subjective to the individual an a posteriori experiene.

  however, can there be an a priori experence, one that is objective, outside the bounds of personel experiene, or does it remain subjective?

  Early on in the disscussion there were posters that commented God speaks to them by what they observe in the world around them. Then there are those, like Shebly, who state God speaks directly to them. That is THEIR subjective point of view. Along comes those who build their belife on the foundation of the Bible only, it being THEIR subjective point of view.

  Along comes the atheist who sees the same awe inspiring beautful world around us, many who have even read the Bible, and falls back on science to not belive in God, let alone a Creator who speaks to anyone, because God does not exist. That is THEIR subjective point of view.

  Whether it comes from seeing the world around us, the Bible, or science, it is subjective to the individual and where they are in life. Of course there are objective things that can be observed like steeping off the edge of a forty story building, it will kill you....unless you survive. Then it's back to the subjective vs the objective.... What a conundrum we find ourselfs in. By the way atheists are just as moral and upright as anyone walking the streets.

  How can anybody KNOW god?

  humans are to ants what god is to humans..... at least, that is how i see it.. ants can't know humans or entertain theories and ideas or myths about humanity.. if we step on an anthill they don't mourn and bury their dead and send prayers up to us.. we are just one more thing they have to deal with.. humans don't become an ant and live among them and die at their bidding only to rise and save a few for later reward.. humans don't help a select few ants write a wonderful and inspiring ant bible to enlighten and bond with us.. ants are extremely different from humans and the twain simply don't meet.

  we barely tolerate their existence!.

  but, we humans are convinced god is a guy in the sky.

  There is no subjectivity to any of this. Two words: Christ ALONE. That's all anyone needs to know:....Perry.....Not so, Christ ALONE is a subjective observation. You follow that with an appeal to authority. The Bible. There is nothing objective about the Bible, it being open to all manner of interpretation and interpolation. Knowing God ( I freely admit is my subjective reasoning ) does not come through Christ, He is not the great Pontifus Maximus to knowing God. There are other avenues.

  How can anybody KNOW god? That is an abstract question to which only a subjective answer can be given, with no objective reasoning involved. With trumpets blowing in your ear. Over here, no over here. Back and forth we go.

  Astute observation Nickolas. There is no reason that people of science and spritual people cannot dialouge with one another in a productive, peacfull manner. No need to downgrade one another because we come from opposing mind sets.

  I contend that all of us, science, or spiritual are subjective in our explainations and belifes. One thing this topic has given me, using Shelby as an example, is a deeper understanding of people in general. Who they are as individuals. Two things I have observed as well, no trolls have popped up and everyone has been civil with their comments.

  Too tired tonight to comment on the comments made. Will say though seems there is more passion for Satan 's existance than God's. That's my observation. More from me tomorrow.

  Although there have been some strong comments made on both sides the thread has been civil, without rancor. Thanks everbody for that, makes for an intelegent lively back and forth. One thing I haven't seen is an objective comment from either side. Perhaps I'm not bright enough to recognize one when it's there......

  Personely, for me, there is no right or wrong answer to the question. It's where you find yourself as you go through life.

  Scavenging for members at their place of work

  a jw came in as i started my shift today and said that he tried to contact me before but i wasn't there.. i'm deaf and the brother was from an asl congregation.. i used to do calls like that but didn't realize how irritating and upsetting it could be for the employee/householder.

  i told him that i used to be a jw but quit.. he asked me if i was under discipline or df'd or something..

  wtf?!

  LOL at mrsjones....don't much care for boiled penuts like mine roasted with salt of course.......

  Just really irritated and view them as a neusance....That's to be expected. You asked to be left alone. Problem is they haven't done so. A simple no will not keep them from coming around, lest for now. You've got more self control tham me.

  Karma is getting me for that year of pioneering and months of auxillary pioneering. I just know it. LOL!...Yup, karma often bites one in the______......Glad to see you have retained a sense of humor about the situation...... It'll work itself out, for you and your peace of mind, sooner than later I hope.
