  ah, the good old days !!!

  now that i'm old and gray, i can't believe the change in prices for this good stuff!

  whole cheese pizza ............ 75 cents !!.

  Quentin..you must be the same age as me if you remember Royal Crown soda!

  Six years between us Golden Girl.

  If you didn't have a dime for a Coca-cola RC was a nickel at the drug store fountain and an extra penny got you a shot of cherry syrup, eleven-cents for the cherry Coke. I got fifty-cents a week too. That took me to the double feature for ten-cents where I could get all the dime a bag popcorn, ten-cent sodas and nickel candy bars I could carry along with those big pickles for a dime. If I saved from the last week a hotdog with all the trimmings was fifteen-cents.

  Now we stay home rent movies, pop our corn, fix hamburgers and drink Shasta sodas because we get them for a dollar a sixpack at the Dollar Tree. The times do change, don't they?

  In 10th grade English class had a crush on a girl next to me. We chatted it up all the time. One day when the bell rang I turned toward her with the intention of jabbing her in the ribs with the eraser end of my pencil. Her left boob must have been magnitized for rubber, when I jabbed, right into the boob it went. She looked at me like I was a cockroach. Spent the rest of the year sitting next to her with not one word passing between us.

  One time, my mom sent me into the store for some feminine hygeine products. I got the wrong kind (that mess is confusing!) and she made me go inside and return them and get the right kind. I was maybe 8...

  LOL Ritchie. When I was 8 or 9 my mother would send me to the Safeway to buy her Kotex. Mother was a sadist.

  You Know You're Old Gertting Old When .......

  they start making remakes of remakes...... i watched the original king kong, not at the theatre but on tv.

  i watched the remake at the theatre and fell in love with jessica lange.

  now they are remaking that movie.. i watched the superman cartoon series and the the tv series.

  Overniters are out. No squeezing, stroking or licking either and if you put it in your mouth...well... you might as well eat it. But then you run the risk of it being embedded with jalapeno's. That would be bad. How could you explain away a dose of jalapenotosises to the Elders. You couldn't. You'd be DF'd for sure.

  I can see now there are many dangers in dating a sausage. One little wiff and your a goner.

  Can you date a sausage? I mean, realy, there not all bad, are they? You know just a movie and have it home by eleven. You wouldn't be a sausagtate if you did would you?

  instead of gaining clarity in my speech and writing; i obfuscated through verbosity.

  Great comments all. Much depth embraced in your thoughts. I don't remember who said: "Language is the house of being", Heidegger I think, doesn't matter. Others access us by our dress, demeanor and the vocabulary we use. On that basis some seek us out, others check us off the party list. Right or wrong, good or bad we are judged by our grasp of language.

  Is word power important? You bet. If for nothing else, as Terry commented, than to understand what we ingest, as we read, or simply listen to the word power of others.
