Very true Blondie, but the part that makes me think is that each Cong. In the circuit already gives a couple hundred a month to the Assembly hall..... multiply that by each Cong and you have a LOT of money. And that money is told to be for up-keep ect....

The thing is, after they announce the expenses and subtract the current collected "donations" they ALWAYS call the remaining amount "a current deficit." This is normally followed by a stampede to the boxes to donate. Seems like a big scam now....to bad I didn't figure it out years ago!!!!

I went to the Sun. session of a "Circuit Assembly" this past weekend. And the weekend's accounts report was read. I was amazed; I never really paid any attention to it in the past. They announced the current expenses for the weekend was $19,600. Also the current collected from Sat. was just over $9,000. This is for 1 weekend. Also, it is a WT built and owned building. Is anyone else surprised by these figures? Currently at this building, there are assemblies 50 out of the 52 weeks a year. The money collected adds up pretty fast and this is only 1 building. I know there are a lot of guys here that have had pretty prominent positions, I would like to know...what is this money spent on? Where does it go?

Will humanity EVER outgrow God?
by nicolaou infirstly let me say that i am not trying to offend believers - i was one for most of my life.
nor is this a discussion about whether god/religion is a 'good' or 'bad' thing, that argument will rage forever.
what i'm asking is really a simple question;.

Midwich makes a great point. How many of those are really believers? I'm counted in the 6 mill, and many more on this board. Would not suprise me at to learn that maybe half of those 6 mill believe they're wrong or at least have some doubts.

How Do YOU Feel Knowing That YOU Were In A Cult?
by minimus infor years, i refused to think of the witnesses as a "cult".
too harsh and restrictive of a word for me......but there is no denying that we were all in a mind controlling cult.
are you embarrassed or uncomfortable knowing that you belonged to a cult just like the moonies and the branch davidians are/werw a cult?

Pastor Kicks Out 9 Members For Not Supporting President Bush!
by minimus inin north carolina, a pastor told the congregation of about 100 that if they voted for john kerry, they would not be welcomed in his church.
things this week came to a head when he took action to kick out 9 who didn't support the president.
others, in protest for the action also have left the church.

What I find funny about this whole story....Kerry spent half his campaign with Al Sharpton touring southern Baptists churches trying to appeal to minority groups, the only media coverage was praise for reaching out to others. Problem is, both sides try to sway churches and churches like most businesses will go to the person where they have the most to gain.

The Second Amendment
by Englishman ini like guns.

Gun laws are pretty interesting and the effect on society. Here in the states, areas with the strictest gun laws have the highest crime rate. Even in other countries such as Canada and Australia, there have been fast increases in crimes since the crack down on guns. And in England, since the gun laws of the mid-90's, crime has sky rocketed, even to the point that per-capita, more violent crimes, burglaries and home invasions then the US. But back to topic, the 2 nd amendment assures us the right to bear arms, but the argument that hand guns weren't invented yet is crazy. They had cannons, does that mean it's legal to position cannons around our respected homes? A little common sense is in order here.

I can honestly say, 607 was the biggie for me. Everything, the whole basis of JW's is 1914. No 607 then no 1914 everything else just falls apart. The UN deal just sealed it for me.
