it really is a stupid procedure...a very good m.s. can make a hopeless elder...and usually he knows it...but he carries on doing what he is hopeless at because of the stigma of being removed or the guilt of stepping down or the trauma associated with coming off and having to then requalify for the 'lower' position..in the meantime he continues to struggle doing something he is clearly unqualified for...and ultimately becomes frustrated and either gives in or does so much damage he is removed anyway.

of course allowing a duff elder to simply drop down to being a good m.s. again will never be considered because all appointments are made by holy spirit, dontcha know...and it couldnt possibly have got it wrong

talk about ya being promoted to your level of imcompetence...

the irony etc...

features news editor neil thomas examines the issues behind the tragic death of new mum emma gough.. words written by heaven knows who and attributed to moses have brought about the apparently needless death of a young shropshire mother, and blighted many other lives, more than 3,000 years later.. far-fetched, possibly.

yet, how else are we to interpret the death of emma gough?.

We certainly wouldn't 'fight to the death' to allow such a person to commit suicide. We'd fight to the death to drag them OFF the railway line before the train hit.

i wouldnt drag them off.

i would have tried to reason with them prior to their making this decision..i would have offered help and discussed whether this extreme course was really the way they wanted to go...but ultimately it is their choice.

and i wouldn't be wanting anyone dragging me off if i had decided that i wanted to die.

What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?

when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".

so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

you would think they may have had a point if i was wearing an iron maiden one but no i was just wearing a plain neutral coloured one.

the real problem was that i had been told by the c.o. to wear a white one so i was 'rebelling'.

few weeks later i was asked by a different c.o. to move to a cong in another circuit...so my p.o. and the other c.o. wrote to the new cong to 'warn' them of my offence and attitude. the p.o of the new hall asked me about it and when i explained he threw the letter away without showing it to the rest of the body.
