  Largest amount of refugees since WW2 in Europe

  so i had a discussion with my mother about this, and she claims that because of this that: "we are surely living in the last days right now" while i must admit myself that the situation seem chaotic, i don't want to believe that it is the last days.

  so question is, how do i face an opinion like that?

  you know the organization is slowly going down.

  not as fast as we would wish, but nevertheless it is crumbling.

  five (5) year old child baptisms, smaller magazines, child sexual abuse exposed, smaller annual growth, no one wants to reach out, young ones leaving.

  I think biotech will remove blood as an issue for the JW's within 20 years.

  That just leaves child abuse, charitable status and shunning.

  If a major Western country eg Australia, US, Spain, UK, Germany, France links charitable status with public benefit then the JWs will have a problem. (How can you claim to be a charity whilst you engage in shunning former victims of child abuse, for example?)

  Other than that , its rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic as Oubliette pointed out here

  just come home from a weight loss class early.

  it's 6 months since i da'd and two and a half years since i've been to a meeting.

  there was a witness there (unless she has left, i wouldn't know) we made eye contact!

  i sometimes look at articles still to see what my parents are learning and how that frames their view of me (former member, atheist, computational evolutionary researcher).. anyway for the proof using propositional logic:.

  p = information.

  q = attributed to intelligence and not mindless processes..

  "As is often the case, when scientists explain one mystery, they open a door to another."

  This sentence prepares the reader for the insertion of "god must have done it" into the newly created mystery gap.

  It also smacks of an argument from ignorance - ie we can't (won't) explain this 'mystery' therefore god.

  With a slight hint of poisoning the well and a complete disrespect for the scientific method with the 'as is often the case' insult at the start.

  What a piece of work these writers are...

  portishead congregation in north somerset is being merged or disbanded on sept 1st 2015 due to "aging elders, poor attendance, decrepit kingdom hall and landslip" - of course the suspicion is wt just wants to sell the hall off.
