i've heard about his bombastic, overly patronising, cartoon-ish delivery before, but i'd never actually seen it...until now.
and i should add, this religion bears little to no relation to the one i left 6 years ago.. .

it's been a while since i've poked my head in here.... i was just curious if anyone on the forum is involved with bitcoin mining?.
i am, and am having fun doing it.
just signed up for a circle.com account - very slick...also check out xapo.com as an alternative...
in many places it is illegal to set up a stand and sell things in public without council approval.
so why is it that jws can set up their trolleys in busy public areas without being asked to move on?
i saw this article this morning about muslims being asked to stop handing out leaflets in parramatta, because it is illegal.
I think every local government will have different guidelines...

Morning commuters at my central London rail terminus are subjected to running the gauntlet in the following order:
1 - Charity collectors - about twice a month there will be a team with buckets for cash donations - always good causes
2 - Brand marketers releasing a new product will do give-away free samples of brekafast bars etc - popular with most people grabbing freebies
3 - Free morning newspapers being handed out - ignore
4 - Authorised homeless man selling Big Issue magazine - ignore
5 - various unauthorised beggars - ignore
6 - JW's with cart - ignore
They are just another annoying obstacle which most people are visually filtering - it might be different at quieter locations - in Central London 99.99% of people stream past them without a glance.
watchtower-qcstelecom ownership agreement.. .

@punkofnice - there is a difference between 'no punches pulled' and asserting baseless nonsense - those type of comments just feed the JW persecution complex and are the opposite of helpful to our position.
PS - none of my immediate family talk with me either.
Lets discuss over a beer in London one of these days ;-) PM me if up for that,

@punkofnice - tasteless comment.
one thing i would like to say is will the union jack be changed because the scottish flag is incorpreted in it.
if the union jack is changed will we change our australian flag because the union jack is in our flag?
even hawawi has the union jack also fiji and many other commonwealth countries.. .
simon - its perfectly possible to ascertain why people voted the way they did.
You call a bunch of them afterwards and ask them ;-)

http://whatscotlandthinks.org/ is also an excellent resource
People voted yes because of self-determination, Westminster politics and whats happening with the NHS
People voted NO because of risk, pensions and the pound.
Independence is a processs, not a referendum date. It has been successfully underway since 1998. It's surprising people are unable to see the bigger picture.

Scotland 'owns' about 85% of UK North Sea oil by geography and yet is allocated only 8% of it on a per capita basis.
If oil revenue was allocated by geography Scotland would be a slight net contributor to the UK pot.
Of course Londoners also receive +24% subsidy compared to the rest of England, but you don't hear so much about that...

interesting article dozy - I'm not in scotland as you know so don't have any idea really what the mood on the street is - I guess YMMV as usual.
the author does speculate on what would have happened following a YES vote, and for me thats entirely the problem - speculation.
what we can observe now is how the NO vote will work out.

I think Scotland could & should go it alone and 1.6m fellow Scots agreed.
Having said that I respect the 2m Scots who disagreed and I expect that going forward together we hold the Westminster feet to the fire to deliver in a timely manner on their promises.
There has been one recurring theme on this thread which needs people to do their own research to form their own view, not that peddled as fact in the MSM - and that is that Scotland is a net recipient of more than its fair share of UK public spending. (and by implication Scottish people should be grateful to the UK (read England) for its largesse which enables them to drink themselves silly whilst eating pies and fighting, all on England's dime).
