Your Age at Baptism (into JWs, not Catholics or Baptists - duh)
by undercover inleavingwt mentioned on another thread the age of his wife when she was baptized.
she was a child.
how can you expect a child to make such a decision?.

Pope says God was behind big bang. Interesting read

Sorry, but I agree with leaving wt. No, animals are not morally outraged at eating each other but I am. Especially the way they are mistreated by humans. And, I am watching my brother-in-law die a horrible death from lung cancer which has spread to every part of his body-and my sister is dying of anguish at the hospice with him. Yes, I do think God is an SOB. My brother-in-law never smoked a cigarette in his life. So whatever God's plan was he can shove it up his. .... And I am agnostic if not atheist. Still not sure of that one.
But back to the original topic; I attended Catholic school before I became a JW and the nuns taught us in catechism that evolution was the way God chose to create. So either the pope has been in the dark for many years or the nuns were giving us their own opinions. I believe it's time the pope spoke up for evolution. If only he'd do as much for birth control.

This is Why I Don't Like Having Pets

the cat we had seemed to be getting used to the new place, though she was hiding alot.
she would burrow herself under the sofa cushions or under our blankets.

I do hope your cat comes back. I truly empathize with you. When I moved a few years ago my cat was misssing for two days. Luckily we found her behind the washing machine. Cats become fearful and disoriented in a new environment. I hope your baby comes home.

A Magnificent novel to recomend: THE MAGUS by John Fowles
by Terry init was suggested to me by my favorite teacher, mr. mcgilvray (my science teacher.).
it is many decades later and i recently sat down with this book in great curiousity: would i appraise it nearly so highly now?.
the short and enthusiastic answer is: yes!

Terry,
No, I was unaware that there were two versions of the book. I will get the second version. It has been so long since I read The Magus I'm sure it will be like reading it for the first time. When I first got the book I read it several times over a period of a year. It is my favorite book along with Siddartha and Dictionary of the Khazars. I have not seen the movie. I didn't know there was a movie of it. I don't see how The Magus could be translated to the movie screen.
Thanks for the information!

I read this book 10 years ago. It was a wonderful mental excursion. Loved it then and still do.
