The show is entertaining and fun to many people, including myself. What I don't understand is why anyone would insult those who choose to watch it? I don't think anyone here is taking it at 100% face value other than that they find this sort of thing fascinating on whatever level. Warlock was mearly starting a thread that might appeal to like minded people, and I didn't get the impression at all he was doing anything to convince anyone that this was all TRUE and everyone must BELIEVE. Why would anyone take issue with that?
I find some responses here to be of a bullying nature... that's awfully sad...

Unforseen Times and Bad Haircuts befall us all :S
by Elsewhere inwhen i go to get my hair cut, i have a series of very specific lengths that different parts of my hair are supposed to be cut.
today i went to new place and told the girl exactly what to do... this long here... that long there... watch out for the tricky cowlick over here... etc.... did she listen?
no.. instead she got this very intense look on her face and started going at it.

Oh wow, that totally sucks
I feel your pain though, I have naturally curly hair and have become extremely picky about where and who will cut my hair. Some people just can't be told. I've ended up with some pretty terrible haircuts myself. But like they say, time and booze cure everything.
Oh wait a minute, no..... actually I just made the booze part up.

Dr. Who question for British posters
by Insomniac inin the episode i just watched, the doctor was fiddling with rose's cellphone and used the term "jiggery-pokery.
" i'm pretty sure that's what he said.
what does that term mean?

I had been watching Dr. Who here in the states on the Sci-fi channel, and noticed it was also playing on BBC America, but about 6 months ago (maybe longer?) it seemed to disappear. *POOF!* For those on this side of the pond, what channel and day are you watching it? I've missed everything since Rose was left in the parallel universe.... been dying to find out what happens next!

As a parent....how do YOU feel about trampolines?
by onlycurious inmy daughter broke her arm really just a hair above the elbow about 5 years ago.
her arm isn't the same after having pins in it.
now my oldest daughter has been going over to a friends house and doing back flips (as if she's a pro) on the dumb thing.

In my humble opinion... anything that gets kids out from in front of their GameBoys and outside doing physical activity is awesome! Pretty much any activity associated with childhood carries it's risk of injury. Riding bikes (my daughter took a huge chunk out of the back of her thigh last year doing this), climbing trees, swimming (had a friend die at our senior picnic no less), roller blading (my sister broke her nose once, it's still a bit crooked) etc etc etc. You can drive yourself up a wall worrying about the risks, or you can encourage your kids into activities, all the while firmly stressing safety. (helmets, knee pads... whatever it takes for the activity they're taking part in)
As far as the trampoline is concerned specifically. I'd be more concerned that it doesn't invalidate his homeowners insurance. Personally, it's specifically mentioned in our insurance that we can't have a trampoline. If someone gets hurt and sues us, we are fully liable and they'll cancel our policy.
I for my part have a problem with the Heelys that all the kids are wearing. Not in and of themselves, but the fact that they've turned every store and mall into a skating rink. Not cool.

Did you like Pirates 3 : At Worlds End (Spoilers possible)
by free2beme ini went and saw this movie sunday and i admit, i was not expecting much.
i liked the first one, a ton.
i thought the second one was too long and boring, with all sorts of new information that was so off the plot of the original, that you felt like it sort of ruined the original.

I am a big fan of the "Pirates" movies, but found this one a little disappointing.
Special effects were great, some really beautiful scenes and locations. But the plots and subplots and twists and turns in the script left you scratching your head a little bit. There didn't seem to be good motivation for half of what happened. They just kind of dumped occurances in your lap with no real rhyme or reason. And then left stories dangling... like Kalypso and Jones... they just kind of 'fall' off the radar so to speak with no real resolution to their story.
I love the fantasy aspect of these movies... and will happily watch any decent special effects movie, but felt that as far as the writing on this one went it didn't seem very well thought out.
That being said, I'll definitely be buying this one when it comes out. I'm generally not an over-analyzer of movies... I just like to be entertained!

Paisley Ties Are Satanic, Sandals Are Immodest. What is Worldly????
by mtsgrad in20 years ago (in my teens!
) there was a well established rumour that the paisley pattern had demonic origins.
no brothers in my hall wore ties with that pattern, until a watchtower had a brother wearing a tie with this pattern.. a co said that sisters feet should not seen at the meetings for the sake of decency.

Yup.
There's a name for that- sexual frustration.
I think it would be a different organization if only they allowed BJs.....

i remember someone finding tampon wrappers in the womens bathroom, and they had a special meeting for 'the sisters'...
Omg!
Some Elders spend WAY too much time pondering the body parts and body functions of the "Sisters".

In our kneck of the woods, paisley's represented sperm, and therefore taboo.
I remember one incident standing out as an odd rule, even at the time. I was at a get-together with a whole bunch of JW families and a group decided to play basketball. I asked to play also, but was quickly told no and told that it was inappropriate for "brothers" and "sisters" to play basketball together. It was hinted that their bodies might accidentally touch eachother in naughty ways. Just thinking about the heads bobbing up and down in agreement with that one makes me laugh!
