Have you ever caught a JW in a lie?

(Worked 8 years for) "Brother" #1...was sellling his business, but didn't let any of the " 20 brothers" that worked for him know. He allowed 2 of our last paychecks to bounce. Said it was a mistake of his bank. He never did make good on our paychecks, He was eventually given a slap on the wrist and asked to step down...not deleted for fraud.

(Worked 7 years for) "Brother" #2....well intentioned for the most part, but when I was having trouble with "brother" #3 (they worked togeather in #2's business) he promised he would back me up if Br #3 continued to treat me unjustly. In the end Br #2 backed Br #3 and told me, "Well I NEED him more than I need YOU." Came up with a trumped up reason to "let me go".

(Worked 1 year for) "Brother" #3 (his personal business seperate from Br #2)...would LIE to his customers...lied to me about how he would make sure he would cover all my tax/SS deductions( which he didn't do. Come tax time I found out he was 1099ing me....which means I had to come up with over $2200 in taxes owed...he paid me with personal checks.

Did you help clean the Kingdom Hall, yard work, maintenance?

at one hall i attended for serveral years had a lawn covering large man-made burms with trees and bushes.

it was a difficult yard to mow and maintain.

i have often wondered why we all pitched in and worked so hard for nothing.

Grass mowing...yep loved to work outside.

Hall cleaning...yep "brothers" would run to clean the "sisters" bathroon and visa versa....cheap thrills for all involved.

Faders: When You Left, did Anyone Give a Damn?

it seems funny to hear how some get love bombed, others get left alone when they fade.

i moved and told nobody - by the time they figured i was 'weak', it was too late - i was gone.

so honestly, what was it like for you when you left the 'organization'?

Been to 4 different congregations, and only one set of elders seemed genuinely concerned about me. It's an out of sight out of mind organization unless you have many sincere (not judgmental) relatives attending.

600 bottles of water on the wall

while renovating a house i found 600 2-liter bottles (empty soda or pop plastic bottles depending on where you are from) filled with water in the basement on shelves.

the former owner was a world war 2 marine who passed away.

there was no indication he was a survivalist such as canned goods stored there..

horrible life...toliet intake was fine. Some of the plastic bottles were from years ago......so they were never used for anything.

1.) What’s your guess as to why he was storing the water?

2.) Has anyone found “odd” things in a home or apartment?

Is being searched by your employer EVERY day legal?

i am in the middle of induction training for a new job at a local store that is one of the uk's largest hardware stores.. today we were told it was company policy that every staff member is searched everyday before they leave the shop.

you cannot, under any circumstances leave the store until you have been searched both your bag and person and sometimes you car also searched.. your handbag has to be emptied and searched, your pockets have to be emptied and you have to take off whatever clothes you are told to take off including shoes, roll up your shirt above waist level if you are a woman and loosen the waist band of your trousers.. if i am right, even the police are not permitted to search anyone without due cause and i already feel 'violated' at the thought that i will have to go through this humiliation everyday.

this shop basically sells toiletries, garden stuff etc and insist that half of their theft if from staff.. however, we were also told that shoplifters cannot be stopped unless they have been followed all round the store and their is 100% knowledge that they have stolen something as a stop and search would get the store into terrible trouble.. so, am i correct in thinking that these people are going to violate my human rights every day!.
