I know alot has been said, but...
by Lot ini know that much has been said about the 3-15-06 wt study article on false religion, but i wanted to add my two cents because of the way that it affects my situation.. i realized a long time ago that this wasn't the "truth", but i only allowed myself to acknowledge this fact two years ago.
since then i have been trying to figure out what that realization meant for my faith in god and religion.
i have more answers now than i did two years ago, but my search for meaning and understanding continues and probably will for the rest of my life.

Figured JWD members would like to start the week off right.
We pruned some trees this weekend. We rented a wood chipper.
At the end of the day we were like, "What ELSE can we run through it?"
Someone brought up Watchtowers. So we grabbed some and made a video clip:

Meeting Clothes
by Nosferatu ini absolutely hated the concept of "meeting clothes".
all my meeting clothes were hand-me-downs from other brothers.
i always hated getting hand-me-downs from the fat jw kids who were older than me.

Before we moved away my wife and I got rid of tons of clothes. She got rid of probably literally DOZENS of dresses.
After we got to our new home 3 states away she got rid of a bunch more that were just sitting in her closet. -ithinkisee

Anyone feeling the Memorial pressure?
by atypical infor those who are fading, do you feel the pressure building as the memorial approaches?
family members who otherwise are busy with their own interests suddenly start paying more attention, dropping hints and holding their breath as it were.
then there are the invitations.

I always like the sales pitch at the end. You know, where they say, "If this is your first time to one of our meetings, we have a special offer for you. Tonight we will be offering a home bible study course for you - absolutely free."
As if it is some special one-night-only deal or something.
The memorial is nothing more than an attempt to get people in the door to make a sales pitch to them. Similar to an AMWAY/Qwixtar recruitment meeting. Nothing more.

Blondie said,
I know a JW family that did that, all left at the same time, grandparents, adult children, spouses and grandchildren. Never said why to anyone, not that it stopped the gossipmongers.
I would love it if we began to have that kind of effect. It seems that NOT talking to the troublemakers makes the most sense. It leaves them to flounder and whip themselves into a frenzy of suspicion and mistrust.
I love it.
Oh yeah, and FreedomLover was awesome at the wedding. She definitely came across as the stronger person.

Elder's school.
by ithinkisee inmy father-in-law and i had a big discussion about elders and how they are not loving.
i said this was indicative of the society as a whole.
he countered by saying, "i go to the elder's school, and it is full of loving advice.

My father-in-law and I had a big discussion about elders and how they are NOT loving. I said this was indicative of the Society as a whole. He countered by saying, "I go to the Elder's School, and it is full of loving advice. It is people-oriented training. We learn to take each situation individually and not be so precedure-oriented. The counsel from the Society is good. It is these elders in the congregation that don't follow it." I know this is not the case based on some of the elder's school notes I read here. Does anyone have examples of ridiculous stuff they heard at their elder's school which I might be able to "remind" him of? Does anyone have links to some of the elder's school notes threads? -ithinkisee

If it is a really long testimony then it might be wise to split it up into 2,3, or 4 sections and let people download them individually.
If no one does this by the time it is sent to me, I'll split it up and post it.

I think many of you will return to the religion one day
by free2beme ini don't mean this as an insult, more of a life experience thing.
i saw a lot of people leave in my years there and a lot were angry with the religion and the people, and some even protested the kingdom halls and wrote things in the newspapers.
a lot though, came back in time, as it was just the comfort zone they felt at ease in.

IP_SEC Said:
I think there is a huge difference between a person DF'd and a person who knows the truth about the truth.
That is what I think too. This site has always told those like us that "know the truth about the truth" should approach someone with caution that has been disfellowshipped - because they often welcome the abuse as "loving counsel".I dont think 100% will stay gone, but I do not think many here will ever even entertain going back.
I do believe many DF'd people return. But those that "know the truth about the truth"? Almost never. -ithinkisee PS: Happy birthday to me today.
