  Why Are Some Superstitions Okay?

  this is one of the things i never understood as a jw.

  i was told that jws were not superstitious people.

  as followers of the true god jehovah, we weren't to give in to false beliefs, even if others were practicing them.

  You mean the IDES of March? Ides is Latin for ''division'' (I think) and the Ides occur approx half way through each month.

  A Jehovah's Witness was handing out pamphlets about the end of the world in the Nostrand Avenue subway station yesterday when she saw someone carrying a bag of body parts.

  You wouldn't think they'd put body-parts in see through-bags, would you?

  The point of Russell's pyramid?

  does anyone know what russell and his interest in the pyramid was all about.

  i no longer have wts literature and someone asked me (a non-jw or ex-jw) and i didn't know what to tell him.. i tried the search and it kept coming up "error.".

  i'm pretty sure that a few people whom i have met personally from jwd have actually gone back to being full-blown witnesses.

  (i guess i must be pretty scary in real life, eh?).

  i think too, that some of them have suddenly become believers again.

  I agree with Satanus - to a prisoner of 30 years the inside of a 6 x 6 cell is all he knows, and the outside World, although representing ''freedom'' may appear scary and alien. Sometimes it's more comfortable to stay with what you know.

  What does "having problems" mean in JWland?

  i'm off to visit my jw family for the weekend.

  i've been fading for about five years, so our visits are always kinda like walking in a minefield.

  anyway, i've been thinking about my friend r. r and i met and started studying in 7th grade and she is the only person i can say i directly "brought" into the org.

  Why Let The Elders Tell You What To Do?

  if any are still going to meetings or allowing the organization to control you, i'd like to know why are you allowing the elders to dictate to you what is right and wrong.

  the elders are no better than you!

  Yet they have the real power to disfellowship!

  THAT is POWER?....all they have is the ability to convince a whole bunch of other people to be rude (by ignoring / shunning) - that says a lot about them and their minions.

  ......I know someone who used to ride with the Hunt IN ORDER to sabbotage it (from the inside)....and reading this thread made me wonder......do you think anyone does?

  Suggested Masthead for the New Improved Awake!

  in thinking about the change to awake - it seems a new masthead would be in order.

  i suggest;since 1980 we have been using this magazine and other printed propoganda in an all out effort to win the 'apostate wars'.

  in addition, beginning shortly before we applied to the united nations for a library card, we began to publish very favorable political articles about that organization in order to curry favor, and to recieve the best possible seat upon the back of that horrific beastlike organization.

  did any one else feel ready to puke when the watchtower article brought out that the elders were the stars mentioned in the bible, revelation i think it was!.

  i remember my immeadiate thoughts.

  'that's just what this bunch of big heads need to hear!".
