I agree with Wily and Happy. I didn't fade, I just quit going, divorced, and disappeared with 2 children. I may have not been the best parent but it was definitely the right choice for me and mine. Plus, I never confronted my now 80+ yr old parents. My Father a PO for 30+ yrs and 3 siblings, 1 grandmother, 2 aunts and 1 uncle all very much into their cult. They have all tried confronting me with the "truth" as they see it but I have not and will not give them the intimate facts of my beliefs or feelings when it comes to "the truth". My parents, I feel, were doing what they were convinced was best. uh hemmmm they don't even remember if or not I was ever baptized! The only reason for considering it was to win some form of acceptance from them! It has been over 25 yrs since stepping into a kingdom hall. and still the jw demons linger! do not subject your children (daughter)to the insanity; when mine expressed her individuality as I had also attempted as a teenager, we were labeled 'demonized' after all, what other explanation could their be? (according to jw family). Create your own circle of friends and new family and keep the jw family at arms length. Be kind to them do not give them any information so they feel they must condemn you and your children. Keep things on your terms and where you are comfortable. I wish you happiness...

***Deep down, I think they know its a lie, but to admit that would mean admitting they have wasted years, perhaps decades of their life on chasing a fantasy.*** The above statement is so true! Makes me think of my parents. Sheesh! my mom cannot/willnot get out of bed sometimes and refuses to talk to anyone. She is the wife of a past prominent elder who has 'retired' as such. They have simply been fanatics in a religeon that has worn them out. My one brother is a fanatic as well. What's with calling me at 2:30am to find out why I am not attending meetings???? One of my 2 sisters is on permanent disability and receives ss for being diagnosed as bi-polar. Thank whomever, that myself and 1 sister are living our lives outside of the 'oh so righteous organization!' But I still feel sympathy for those who are in and have no clue. I am the oldest of 4, my folks started their bible study when I was 4. What a waste! But they thought they were doing something good (my folks that is) The jw organization is evil personified! and that is my opinion! thank-you for reading

mmmmm, be like human, and just do what comes naturally. Although if in a committed (sp?) relationship, 'doing' ends the relationship and all trust(or at least approach it that way). So, my motto is, think first, then enjoy or walk away.

Elsewhere, you are right on! Many a female have toyed with the male for sympathy while playing their sexuality in the background to keep their attention. No, I am not guilty, just have observed it often. Definitely not fair in my book. If you are going to flaunt it, you had better be ready to carry through, for better or worse. ;)
Ummm, the bad boys are yummy, but one must be ready to accept the bad. -

Have sex and still "just be friends" was my motto after leaving the so called truth and an abusive marriage. Worked well for me. Of note, although now married and exclusive, the past 'friends' still remain as simply just friends.

Inactive ones - new light.
by unique1 ini didn't go to the district convention this year.
my mom however did and she sends out a daily text email every day.
she asked all members of the email group to share their favorite part of the convention.

Maybe that explains why my mother called out of the blue with a friendliness I have not ever heard coming from her before. Even saying she missed me calling her!!!

What did shunning do to you?
by hillary_step inthere can be little doubt that the wts 'shunning' policy is a dangerous weapon.
each year tens of thousands of people are disfellowshipped, and experience the reality of being shunned.
many of them still believing the wts doctrine that if they die in this condition they will shortly be executed by god at har-meggedon and die an eternal and disgraceful death some leaving the faith altogether.

It slapped me with the realization that none of the witnesses I knew were true friends and my family has no natural affection. And I was not DA or Dfd. Just quit. It also made it clear the organization was not a healthy place for me or my children, neither were they the righteous chosen instrument of a loving creator. It didn't cause depression, just deep hurt causing me to avoid them all and start living.

How many of you consider yourselves Pagan?
by FreedomFrog ini've started on a path that is very comfortable for me almost a year ago.
and now i'm wanting to see how many believe a similar way.. i looked into wiccan, celtic, eclectic and other forms of pagan.
i think that i've settled down into shamanism since that was the path my grandfather went.

there is much of the craft practiced within the catholic church by a few and quietly. some not so quietly. have you ever visited a "botanica"? There is much superstition and herbal use. I take what pleases me and skip the superstition part. Im not aware of any 'name' description for those who have integrated their earth and 'blessed mother' beliefs with the catholics. just know they exist.
