I Finally Made Him Proud!

while i had managed to distance myself from my worldly non-jw family, i still had enough contact to know where they all lived.
likewise, they still kept track of me.

Bad haircut stories...?
by bebu ini do not have a bad haircut.... let's just say that my son is not happy now.
this was not intentional; it was a matter of misunderstanding what he wanted.
when i was a junior, my mother got angry that my limp hair would not curl like hers could.

When I was a wee lad... of 5 or 6... I found some old rusty scissors in the backyard. I showed them to my mom, who promptly made some negative remark about how they were old and useless.
Well... I worked with them... until I got them to 'scissor'... I think they were like 'school scissors'... you know the ones - the rounded tips, so you couldn't hurt yourself.
Anyway, when I got them to work... I had to try them out... on something. So, I took a bit of hair from the top of my head and cut it off. They worked.
Only... my parents didn't think I did such a good job - and I got ridiculed for doing it. *frowns*
Yeah. I know _now_ that I shouldn't have done that... but... there are better ways to let a youngster know that.
I did something like that too. Well my haircut now looks rather out of place... I used to have really shaggy hair until one day a few weeks ago when I decided to get it REALLY short. Big mistake, but hey, "it's not the end of the world." (Ed - Shaun of the Dead).

I'm still working on deprograming myself, sometimes I'll catch myself in an act of loyaty to the GB.
It took me a while to deprogramme myself, and I have to say that I haven't fully done it. It might take another 14 years to be completely mentally free, especially regarding one's thought processes.

Why are JW illustrations so bad?

i have always been somewhat surprised at the quality of them - i have seen children's books with more compelling and moving pictures (the enormous turnip brings tears to my eyes) - i know i'm being critical but its almost bedtime and i can't help it hehe.

Not to sound like a dick but I think that people living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones the more I think about it. If you think coming on here bashing witnesses somehow validates your own messed up religious beliefs you really should give your head a shake. Just because we are ex witnesses doesn't mean we think EVERY other religion is nessesarily better. In my opinion its all the same BS, different pile. The Mormons don't hurt people as much as the wits do but they are still totally, unequivocally, catagorically full of shit.
I just had to laugh at this. Last time I checked though, they were moving away from the illustrations and towards the photographs, even of biblical scenes.

10. Other... Doubts about the Bible and religion as a whole. Once that was wash out for me, the WTB&TS didn't have a grain of sand to stand on.
I became quite an atheist once I stopped going to meetings; things just never added up in that religion. I have modified my position on atheism, however.
