pick one!
only one!...the main business of the wtbts is: (1)religion (2)publishing (2) real estate.
Siddhashunyata,
That is a hard one. I can't decide between (2) and (3)
edit to be clear - I guess that should be between (2) and (2).

Fred, aren't you being dishonest with Littlelamb?
My advice is to develop a deep relationship with Jehovah and Jesus. And read God's word daily and pray to him for guidance, forgiveness of our sins, and help.Don't the JWs teach that God does not hear the prayers of non-JWs?
And a personal relationship with Jehovah and Jesus? Isn't that only possible if you are one of the 144,000?

a friend sent this to me this morning.
i know this kind of e-mail is circulated a lot, and maybe this one has, but i have not seen it before.. as one of jehovah's witnesses i would have simply ignored the message in this e-mail.
now as an ex-jw i see it in a totally different way.
Dedalus,
your comment:
See, I think it's condescending to say that "Christians should take the lead in showing love and kindness to everyone." It implies, whether you mean this or not, that other people aren't as good at being loving and kind because they're missing something that Christians have. When really, other people are just as good at being loving and kind as Christians.I don't mean it that way at all. I just think that every Christian should know they are giving their lives to a way of life. They know they are to show love, kindness, etc. if they are to really be a Christian. People who do not take that kind of a stand do not have the spotlight on them. They may be just as loving, kind etc. or even more so, but people expect Christians to live up to the standards they preach, and they should.
I only go to church occasionally so I may not see hypocrisy (if it is there) my experiences are mostly with ex-jw Christians. I have found them to be genuine and I believe I can count on them to be a true Christian. I haven't been disappointed (maybe once or twice) with any Christian. We are far from perfect, but all of them I know, are sincere and truely desire to do the right thing.
I think your experiences may not be like mine, so you may view Christians in a different way, that is of course your right, and I understand that.
Some of the things you mentioned about Jesus, I think can be explained, by very different customs, lifestyles, and probably translations.

i have recently met a wonderful man.
he is a jw, and has been all 25 years of his life.
i am not, and have not even known any all of my life.
Hi Pad,
I hate to give you any false hope, but, I will say, there are JWs leaving the organization every day. It is very hard to get through to them, (I should know, it took me 54 years)but if he cares for you enough, there could be some (small) hope.
Keep reading here on this forum and you may get some good ideas.

hello all.. i dont know if this is the right area for debate most i have read on here is pretty childish.
but im looking for debaters to handle this topic on the trinity.
ex jws say they now have the truth and many have gone back to churches.
Hi Airmail Special and welcome,
I will only start your responses. I am at work, but also, the Trinity is a very difficult subject, and there are many here that can do a much better job than I.
The way I understand it, there is One God, just like there is one human race, but there are several billion humans. The One God is three persons, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, but only the one entity, God.
The most convincing evidence for me is the fact that the bible uses the very same terms for all three. Mighty God, Savior, Creator, Rock, Lord, etc.
After looking up all those scriptures (shortly after leaving the WT) I came to the conclusion that if the bible called all three God, I was not going to argue with the bible.
There is much more, I will leave it up to others to give more information.

The message is definately a Christian one, the man on the street was a Christian, he was passing out bibles, but I think more importantly is the real Christian message.
Jesus Christ said He was giving a new command "that we love each other" who can argue with that message? The example Jesus set was always good. I don't think it is at all limited to Christians. Christians should take the lead in showing love and kindness to everyone, that is the New Testament message.
True Christianity would fit both of the men in this story. One chose to live a very simple life of working for food and necessities while distributing bibles because he was convinced that was the best way he could help people. The other man was conscience stricken and chose to offer a little help to someone in need.
How can that be "us vs them"? I don't think any Christian would see this story as an "us vs them" story. If everyone in the world followed the example of these two men, would the world be better or worse? If that means following a Christian way of life, whats wrong with that?

I appreciate your comments Detective, Double Edge, and Billygoat.
Billygoat, Thats the way I see it. So many of these storys are going around, I don't know if any of them are true or not, but I got something out of this one, and thought others might also.
What this story made me think about, was not how the homeless man (by choice) heard from God, whether vocally or just the urging inside him, or whether or not he sold the bibles ( I thought he was giving them away) but rather, that I have made it a practice in my life, to judge people by appearances.
We never know what kind of person is behind the image of a "bum" it could be a very interesting and unusual story.
I have met many people (yes, ex-jws) who would do just what the person in the story did, giving time and even money, to a total stranger in need. I know of at least one on this forum. (wasn't referring to me)
