I think the elders were just sittin around drinkin a Bud at those meetings. The stupid elder who kept asking the questions was the lightweight. ha ha.

whatever happened to to good-ol-days when you had to pay attention to where you threw your lawn darts so that you wouldn't kill anyone?.
when i was in first grade my family had a set of lawn darts... not the plastic kind... the kind with the heavy steel spike prodruding from the tip.
i loved to go outside and play with them.
Me and my brother used to play with cans of Raid bug killer. That was our favorite toy. My mom used to always have a garden so there was lots of hornets around. It was fun to kill them!!! We also had alot of spiders around. Ever cook one in the microwave? Good times. My brother was the deadly weapon though. He's 5 years older than me, bigger and stronger. We used to play football together, and if I didn't have a breakaway touchdown I was dead. He would hit me as hard as he could, and then beg me not to tell my mom. He always used the "If you don't tell I'll be your best friend" line. Stupid brother!!!(just kiddin)

What's up Glitter? My parents were the same way. No t.v. on meeting nights. And why did it always seem like that's when all the good shows were on?
i live in brazil anda would like make friends .
i leave this religion and all my "friends" leave too.
i was more than 10 years at the watchtower and now they call me "apostate".
Hi, Kaique. That's what happens when you leave the Jehovah's Witnesses. They all turn their backs on you. But you can find alot of people here who have also had that happen to them. It's a great place to talk about it. Don't worry things will get better.

Stefanie, I used to hate the elders meetings too. My dad was an elder when I was a kid. Those stupid things could go on for hours. I used to hate doing parts as well. I was a procrastinater, always waitng till the last second and then wrtitng them before the meeting. All I have to say is I'm glad it's over.

Jellybaby I feel your pain! Like you, I was pretty damn good. I used to run a 4:20 mile. Tell the track coach you can't go out because of bible meetings. I could also keep it up for very long distances. I would have been killer in cross-country.

For the longest time I used to hate Tuesdays and Thursdays. Those were the nights of the bookstudy and the Theocratic ministry/service meeting. Every time when I was at school or work on these days, it seemed I was never in a good mood. I used to hate having to try and prepare, get dressed, and get to the meeting on time after a long day. It always seemed there was something else I wanted to do on these nights. Finally the feeling of dreading these nights has faded. It took a while even after I stopped going, to realize they were no longer meeting nights. Now Tuesday has become my favorie night of the week, Kareoke night. Anybody else feel that sense of dread?
I didn't include Sunday because at least football was on.

just curious if jw urban legends are the same all over the world...?
i remember growing up in canada, there's two that really stand out in my mind.
1) the smurfs walking out of the kh.
With all the talk about different bands, I remember AC/DC was suppossed to stand for Anti Christ Devil Children. I totaly remember the Smurf thing. I remember the meeting stopped once because supposedly a Smurf had run by the water fountain while she was taking a drink. Whatever she was on, I want some of that. Also do you remember when people would see Jesus in some inanimate object? They would say they saw Jesus in their frying pan while cooking eggs, in their mirror, in their glass of milk. What a bunch of whak-jobs.

they finished high school?
college?
etc and what year were you told?.
What I really hated was the fact they always made you put your life on hold. You weren't supposed to go to college, marriage should be held off until the New System, why store up material things. It was absolutely ridiculous. When you look at the organization from an outsider's perspective, you can see just how crazy their promises were. I still find it hard sometimes to wipe away the thought of this system is coming to an end. When it's been drilled into your head for such a long time, it's quite a shock when you realize it was all lies.
