It should be noted however, that the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses do not endorse public debates any longer. So you would have to have a current JW one time and an ex JW a different time.

The Dateline piece...

i have been trying to avoid watching it because i already knew how hard proof of the allegations is to come by, and knew just as well what kinds of emotions it would bring up in me.. .
if any jw has not seen it, try to find a copy to view.

May KM, You've got to read this
by doinmypart inthe may 2005 km (us branch version) is a bunch of tripe.. in the first article, jehovah's day is near, the writers are feeding the r&f more gloom-and-doom-the-end-is-near.
the 3rd family article is family schedule-family field service.
the 4th family article is family schedule-the family study.

Can someone who knows how to scan put a copy of the May KM family schedule up? Each week has an article dealing with a different aspect of family life; family study, reading the daily text, etc etc.
I know I said it before but May will be a hard month for TheListener.

Anyone know where I can get the theocratic meeting schedule for 2005?
by jimcad inthere's a book made with all the references and information for the whole year.
i usually do my research every week, but if anyone could make my life a little more easy i would greatly apreciated.. .

I might have the book Jimcad. However, per the latest instructions contained in the April KM I won't be able to share it with you.
I know this seems like a tough stance but I feel it is in my best interest to follow the Slave's advice. Please review the article about living with soundness of mind in an electronic age. It has some really good counsel for us. If someone does offer to send you a copy make sure they're not an apostate. You never know who may frequent the internet.

I have the Dateline show videotaped. I will try to dub it to a DVD (without my local commericals), I would be willing to send it to someone who may wish to make copies. This might take me some time but I'll begin to work on it.

I agree with you blueblades.
In fact I've discussed this with other witnesses (when I was still in - well you know before starting to fade). We were talking about how Catholics are so silly to believe that the popes are an unbroken line from Peter to now. We talked about how bad so many of the popes were and all the evil that they did or condoned. Yes, I know dubs can be very self righteous and I was no exception. Talking about the evil in another religion was commonplace in the congregations I attended.
However, as we were talking he said he was glad that we didn't believe anything crazy like that. I said yea we have the FDS to give us food and they're a body not just one person. That is soooo much better. Then he asked a question about faithful servants of Jehovah through history even though they weren't named JWs. I just looked at him with a funny look and said "Yea, I guess the Catholic church is wrong - it's us who go all the way back to the apostles." We both looked at each other a little funny - a look that said I don't understand what just happened to our nice conversation - and changed the subject.

Welcome Tyler. Your story is amazing. It's sounds like the kind of story you see at a DC or CA. 11 year old baptized, giving talks, loves jehovah, gives up normal youth activities, going to bethel one day, etc etc.
I give you credit for not just wanting out of the truth to have sex and smoke, but also because you realize the doctrines are wrong.

I haven't lost a mate, yet. Most of you probably know I'm doing the long hard fade and losing my mate is always a possibility. For the most part we just don't discuss spiritual things at all. Of course that causes problems every once in awhile as well.
For those of you who have already posted I must say I find your stories really encouraging. I know that may sound odd but seriously, you decided on a course of action that was best for you and followed it through. You have taken the pain and stress of losing a husband or wife, children and even extended families and have come through it. You are all very strong individuals doing what you feel is right. I'm proud to be associated with this board and with many of you.

The Pain & Devastation of Learning the Truth about "the Truth"
by MerryMagdalene ina while back i posted my experience about running into an old jw friend who revealed to me he had left the "borg" and told me all about why he had.
today he e-mailed me something he had written and i want to share it for the sake of those who are going thru something similar.
i think it helps to know that we're not alone in our turmoil.

Wow what a story. It never ceases to amaze me how when we start to exam the WTS doctrines with real research we find out how flawed they are - of course, what is done with that knowledge of course is up to each individual.
