There are a couple of letters from the society and some watchtower articles that are supposed to be discussed with the couple before they can get married in the KHall if the local body give them their approval. These letters cover heaps of stuff regarding the arrangements like size of the gathering, music, speeches, bands, alcohol etc. Also the amount/type of expressions of affections shown.......whether they have, you know....done it.....how far they have gone......all these things.

Hi, I was listening to a testimonial from JW Info Line. That of Paul Hess. He spoke about this book Angels and Women. Endorsed by Russell and Rutherford, but apparently written by a spirit medium who had the story transmitted by a "fallen angel". They endorsed the book in the Golden age.
Has anybody read the book or know much about it? You may have discussed it previously, but the search thing didnt come up with much. I have included some info from a web page that has the book in revised format.
Angels and Women [http://www.premier1.net/~raines/review.html]
Angels and Women is, supposedly, an automatic writing ["Automatic writing" refers to writing that is done "automatically" under the control or direction of a spirit or spirits] book recommended by the Watchtower Society in 1924. It is a revision of a novel written in 1878 titled Seola by J. Gregory Smith.[1] Seola was revised and published as Angels and Women by a Bible Student who was identified as being "a personal friend of Pastor Russell [ The book is revised and published by a personal friend of Pastor Russell, and one who was close to him in his work. It is published by the A. B. Abac Company, New York city] and one who was close to him in his work." [2] This revisor said the woman who wrote it was "impelled to write it after listening to beautiful music." [3] He believed the spirit that "dictated" the novel to Mrs. Smith was not one of the "holy angels" (of the kind that supposedly transmitted information and Biblical interpretations into J. F. Rutherford's mind), [4] but was one of the fallen angels who desired to return to God's organization. [5]
The Society at the time believed that some demons or fallen angels were honest and could be saved and return to God's organization. [6] Angels and Women, they believed, was channeled or "dictated" to the author by one such fallen angel who was honest and told the truth about pre-flood conditions on earth. They said he shed some "light" on the subject. They therefore claimed to receive new "light" from a demon according to their published statements. This is unusual as all the automatic or channeled writings I have researched claimed to be from good spirits whether angels, extraterrestrials, or highly evolved spirits. The Society appears to be unique in claiming to receive new light from an evil spirit or fallen angel.
The July 30, 1924 Golden Age the Watchtower Society reviewed the book Angels and Women.
Thanks for your help in advance, GeeVee -

When I was younger a friend and I called at this old house where 5 girls were sitting on the front porch. As I presented the magazines they were all giggling, my friend wasnt sure why and either was I, but as fearless as ever I proceeded. Some months later I found out that it was an illegal brothel. I felt like a right fool. Too innocent. Next time we did the territory we went there again..... but different tenants.....dern!!

Wow, thank you all for the input and understanding, wouldn't it be great if I could send him the link to this page....[probably wont though!!] We are only one of many thousands upon thousands who have to deal with this, and at the same time admitting that at one stage would have done the same to someone else, was blind but now I see.. I will hold off on the reply, at least for a while. There has been so many good ideas that could go into a reply, on the page as well as some private meesages. If I do reply I will post it at the bottom of this page. Thank you all again for your kind support

Is this for real? Once we had to compete with the Salvation Army. They had trumpets, and were going into houses as we were. In the end I stopped our group and we headed for the coffee shop...no that's right, we all went on RV's.....

Hey thank you all for the support. I wonder how he will feel, when one day it dawns on him that the "promises" he is awaiting [and he will get to be a prince too] are just hot air?

Thanks for the support. I also am not disfellowshipped, or even disasscoiated. Just stopped going. Amazingly enough we actually worked together and he sat there every day and didnt say a word, even though he would have known that we had stopped going. He can be very unreasonable. I will think about composing a letter, but i wont hurry. Family.........

Hi all. Just receieved this this morning. Initially I was seething. But now I think that the best reply is NO reply. What do you all think? I know this is another example of head in the sand and no respect for someone elses opinion. Many of you have dealt with this before. Names have been changed for obvious reasons, but the body of the email is how it was sent.
Thanks.
hi geevee,
work is all good, and it does keep me fairly busy. Junior is good and is settling in well. lots of young children to play with.
without being rude however i am having a hard time with how this is going. i know that you have left the truth, i get pretty upset when i think about the boys not being encouraged to develop a relationship with Jehovah God. to take away from them the chance to live forever i just don't get it.
i would love for nothing else than to keep in touch with you and the family, and it will always remain my prayer that you as a family decide to give yourselves the chance for life again. and if you do then i offer all the help and support that i can. until then though it seems that what we have in common is reduced alot. how can i talk to you about what is the most important thing in life when you do not share the same faith bacause you have walked away from it.
if you wish to try to explain what and why then that is up to you. hopefully you will soon see that you have isolated yourself from alot of the things that make life purposeful and start again. i mean no malace in this and it breaks my heart to have to send a message like this to someone that i have always enjoyed a good relationship with, but it needs to be said that without a relationship with Jehovah to bind it all together then how long can it go on. i mean what happens when armaggeddon starts up and you are not in the kingdom.
what do i tell deceased brother and deceased mother if i get through and all your family does not.
then again this might just sound stupid to you. -

Elders School Part 5: Here's how you've been screwing up...
by sir82 intalk # 16: meetings that incite to love and fine works brother local elder .
synopsis: boring rehash of the od chapter on meetings.
elders should set the example in not missing meetings.

Hi Sirs82 and all other readers.
I have a question regarding this quotation: "In all cases of child abuse allegations, ALWAYS call the Legal Department, whether or not the accused denies the allegations."
Q: In the ks91 "page 143" The instructions given were that when an Elder heard an accusation of child abuse, he should instruct the accuser/victim/family not to talk to anyone else about the matter until he gets back to them and the he should contact the Legal Dept of the society FIRST before talking to ANYONE else. SO is this still their procedure? Seems like to quote from the school has the elder confronting the accused before contacting the Society?
Has the instructions that elders hand write on page 143 changed? And [sorry] has the ks been updated or are there new references that you had to write in?
Thanks for the reveiw, i'd love to copy and paste it and send it to all the elders i know and spoil their show!!!
