Hi Winnie,
I take it your not DA/DFDed? Sounds typical of what we experience too. My own brother accused us of not treating JW's well. Huh!! I must've missed that one. I pointed out to him that where we see them we always say hello, so who knows where he gets his info. Perhaps that is what he means. We go up to them and talk to them and they are "uncomfortable" with it and so we are mistreating them by not "respecting" them enough to NOT talk to them. When it comes to family in your experience, I wouldn't be able to control myself, I would have to be in their face!
Good luck.

Funny story about a funeral
by dawg inmy uncle died last month (father's side), so i mustered up the courage to attend the funeral; he was never baptised and i was never disfellowshipped so folks still talk to me thinking i'm da not realizing i'm a full flegged apostate-this has since changed as i've decided to come forward since then.
so the elder gets up and gives the funeral sermon complete with many of the bible myths talking snake and all... sounds like a damn bad acid trip.
so after the graveside service one of my old friends i haven't seen in 17 years comes up and says "did you learn anything by todays sermon'?

Well said Dawg.
We had a funeral here, when we were still "in". The lady had died and she was like a mother/grandmother to everyonein the cong. BUT she had a daughter who was DFed.
There was this over officious elder who had just moved in and the co was present too. Did they keep tags on the whole "servant" body to ensure that no on went near the daughter or the refreshments served later where she would be present!
What a most "unchristian" affair that was. A time when a bit of compassion could/should have been afforded to someone who needed it. At the time I was still an elder, I did manage a hand shake and tell her I was sorry for her loss. She didnt want to let go of my hand. I felt low that day. A definite turning point.
Thats why I love the way dawg handled it. Having the guts to say what you feel. -

I wish you both all the best. Is joining the YMCA a bit like joining the UN to use the library? You only want to use the gym or swimming pool?

So, I am losing track of them all. The "original" governing body [non-biblical term] must be all gone? Are there any more REAL old men on it? or is Ted Jaracz the oldest one now?

KW13....when a visiting speaker failed to turn up........
Yes this was great...except when the wt conductor then thought he had licence to then take as much time as he wanted, like we all paid for two hours and thats what we are gonna get!!!
Or [and I did this once] a suckey elder quickly volunteers to drag out an outline and give a talk off the cuff!! -

Yeah....its the story in a nut shell.
Two great spirit beings, pissed off at each other and instead of going at aech other, they make the weak little humans the main players. What is with that?
Why cant the head off into outer space and deal with each other?
I prefer to think that "joe" is a kid who got called for dinner and left his pc running with "the sims" running. Now he has to do his chores and go to bed. Who knows if he will get back into the study and see what his sims are doing? -

"You'll never even get to finish school in this System of Things....."
by WingCommander inthis statement was often echeod to me during my formative years.
i remember my very first day of elementary school (stateside) at the age of 4. my parents were flustered because they couldn't believe they actually had to start their only child into public school to begin with; after all, the end was right around the corner!
this was 1984, the year the first apple mac was introduced, 80's music was loud and in your face, the delorean was cool, and miami vice was just in production.

rantings on jw fellowship board
by gspradling ined-->some thrilling experiences that just goes to show jehovah knows:
does jehovah know what is going on, and does he help?
1. the bomb planted in the kingdom hall in australia, where one brother was killed, was meant to kill everyone, and would have; but the bomb rolled backwards so the force or the blast was away from the friends, rather than aimed at them

The dozer driver was probably a witness with "hall" on the brain, as one is when fully immersed in it. Did the job and then found out he went to the wrong place. At great cost to his employer. Wonder if they considered paying for it anyway?...if indeed as has been pointed out it happened at all?

WHOPPING WTS LIES ON BLOOD
by DannyHaszard inrichard parker, a member of the jehovah`s witnesses, says that the refusal of transfusions is one of their fundamental beliefs.
based on what is written in the bible.. .
... that while it is a controversial issue, the refusal of transfusions is a matter of faith for witnesses, and deserves to be respected as their choice.
-
geevee
So basically, if you were to have a blood transfusion as a JW, you would not be disfellowshipped, but you would have disassociated yourself by your own actions. [That is accaepting the blood transfusion]

If you are an active JW and give into a transfusion, why not get your doctor to label your blood bag "Fe"....for Iron? as it has a similar color to stored blood. That way, if anyone spots you, you can say you are simply having an iron infusion to boost you low hemaglobin levels?
Just a thought.
