  Yes probably embarrassment has something to do with him cancelling Zoom calls. It’s reasonable to assume that high level donors have dropped off faster, so perhaps zoom calls that had ten or so people showing up in the past, now only have one or two. So he would be staring at one or two people trying to put a brave face on it.

  Despite his promotion of his new tiers, I see his patron number has gone up by only 4. That’s an even smaller bounce than he got last month. It looks like the patrons numbers are declining at an accelerating rate. I guess that makes sense because it must feel psychologically different to stand with someone who has kept over half his support, compared with being down to a third, a quarter, or less, and so on.

  On the jealousy issue: would I like 400 people sending me money every month for very little work, or for just spouting opinions on a topic I know about? Sure, I would! But would I have the brass neck to actually tell people send me their money and keep up this facade? I don’t think I could do it. The inner cringe would be too much to bear, especially if I had to look the people in the eye over video calls. I don’t know if LE experiences no cringe about the whole thing or he just feels he has no other options.

  Forget “sorry”, do these people get a refund from LE? For all his missed Zoom calls.
  Then again, most sane people would pay money to avoid a Zoom call with this charlatan.
  He needs people to send him more money because of his “production values”? Who is he kidding? He’s just bleeding people for as long as he can get away with it. Is there any former insider can tell us how these so-called top tier Zoom calls go? Is it just him telling everyone how great he is? Does anyone else get a look in? I’d be embarrassed to be a member of that group.

  as of march 2023, the hour requirement for pioneers, which was suspended during the pandemic, will once again be enforced.. elders will review the activity of all pioneers in june 2023. if it appears that any do not have a “practical schedule” (aren’t getting at least close to 70 hours per month”), elders are to “kindly and frankly discuss their circumstances”.. what’s that sound that seems like a torpedo plane diving on its target?

  Pioneer is such an empty title these days. You don’t get special prices on the magazines and you don’t get the special food tickets for the convention. The only time it really becomes an issue is when elders decide to “take away the privilege”, sometimes for petty reasons, leaving fragile egos bruised and feelings hurt. What is the point of being a pioneer nowadays?

  Although he has lost a lot of patrons his decline began from a very high base. He’s got more patrons than some famous YouTubers such as Cosmic Skeptic. I think he benefitted from targeting a niche where people are strongly invested in the subject emotionally. He also gained a lot of patrons during the pandemic probably in part due to his non stop livestreams that became regular viewing for isolated/lonely exJWs.

  I wonder how many patrons would keep sending him money each month even if he stopped making videos altogether. Maybe he is wondering the same thing! If he’s lucky he might keep around 100 hardcore patrons while doing absolutely nothing. Perhaps some of them are too rich to notice the money going out, or they have lost their marbles, have been institutionalised - but I’m struggling to come up with excuses why anyone would remain a patron.

  Simon has removed posts that reveal people’s identity or private information. I don’t think he is in the habit of removing posts because people regret comments they made. It would be time consuming and tedious. Just be more circumspect about what you post.

  Whether he changes his life for the better or not is his own affair. We can wish him well if we are so inclined. But there is no need for him to continue making ex-JW videos. There are others who can do it without the baggage and without the kind of damage he has done to others. He is not only surplus to requirement, but he is likely to cause harm if he insists on being involved with the next inquiry or commission because of his background. He can seek to change his life while doing something else. If he had any regard for others he would step aside instead of doing further damage. All those times he threatened ‘walking away from his activism’ ring pretty hollow now that he is clinging onto it for dear life, out of pure ego and self interest, and to hell with others if it harms them in the process.
