I don’t actually get “triggered” LUHE, whatever that means, when someone says the word “triggered” - that was meant to be irony. And I realise people have genuinely traumatic experiences but the term is increasingly used in trivial situations. Some young people seem to be constantly upset about something or other … I wish I didn’t start this stupid thread, ha !

Beards- just told by an elder
by dothemath ini know this subject has been talked about lots over the years, just thought i would share a recent finding from canada.. while visiting with a group of friends, an elder (don’t recall how the subject came up) mentioned the local body had voted to allow brothers with beards be allowed to give talks from the platform.
(it was a very close vote).
the direction given was for each congregation to decide for themselves if that is now acceptable.. so some congregations will be for, and for many it will not.. it’ll probably be a long time before we see any pictures on the watchtower where they’re allowing this though..

You’d think it should be up to each individual to decide.
As a JW, you just don’t appreciate the level of control, and the lack of consultation in decision making, until you have experience of other religious organisations. The other organisation that most closely resembles the JWs for lack of participatory decision making in my experience is the Iglesia ni Cristo.
I remember one time at the KH the local body of elders announced a proposed purchase to the congregation and asked for any comments and questions before taking the vote. Instead of the usual perfunctory agreement as is normal in these situations, some people in the congregation, including sisters, actually asked real questions about the purchase and called it into question. Sensing that the vote might not go his way, the elder panicked and another elder took over the meeting, withdrew the resolution, and said they would return to issue at a later date. The elders convened an emergency meeting and the following week they ‘apologised’ to the congregation for the ‘way the matter was handled’. This time they made it clearer that the elders recommended the purchase and were not really inviting an open discussion about the issue. The congregation took the hint, they had a vote, and the vast majority agreed the purchase. But what I found interesting in the whole episode was how ready and willing ordinary members were to offer their opinions when they believed they were being honestly solicited. For some reason, the congregation had managed to forget a lifetime of training that participatory decision making has no place in the organisation, and acted as if the congregation as a whole was being invited to make a decision.

I agree NoCoinCollector, but purely because it’s the only way that he will ever stop.
Elizabeth Holmes was apparently still trying to do business deals even when she had been exposed as a complete fraud and was convicted. Such people just don’t know when to stop and will not stop until circumstances made it impossible for them to carry on. In Holmes’ case, as with Lloyd, she majorly focussed on the apparent ‘unfairness’, as she saw it, that other businesses were allowed ‘fake it until you make it’ whereas she was exposed for making false claims. She still maintains that, given more time, her company could have developed technology that fulfilled the claims she was making. She had no answer, and no apparent concern for those she harmed by giving false results from fake blood tests, and all the medical and health impacts of that fraud. All she could see was that she felt ‘unfairly’ treated. It’s the same with Lloyd. He will never understand how he has harmed people. He will never be convinced that other people matter as much as his own sense that he himself should be treated ‘fairly’. He will never stop unless circumstances make it impossible for him to continue.
In that video the sections talking about ‘not giving up on the lie’ and accusing those who expose you of being ‘haters’ are highly relevant to LE.

Lloyd’s new book
by jwfacts ini see there has already been discussion over lloyd’s new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.
this includes discussion around his personality, motives and financial gains.
i have written a foreword for this book, because it is an important topic that has not been covered in such a complete format before.

It’s disappointing Paul Grundy has not said anything. He helped launch Lloyd’s career and supported it along the way. In those circumstances I don’t think it’s honourable for him just not to say anything in light of what’s happened.
As to why Paul Grundy claimed that Lloyd could have made more in other businesses, I don’t think it requires that he either knew Lloyd well or was making a guess. Another possibility is that Lloyd boasted to him in those exact terms and Paul simply believed what he said.
In a certain way perhaps it is possible that translation business could have made more money than the EJW YouTube channel. But this ignores the fact that it would probably have required far greater skills, commitments, obligations, and deadlines to paying customers, and a heavy schedule of work. Lloyd can’t even make his regular Zoom calls on time to his top tier donors. So in theory a translation business might have worked, but in practice it’s obvious why he preferred the YouTube channel.

There is a UK Facebook group that has promoted LE for years, including his proposed UK visit in December 2021 which he abandoned in favour of his sex holiday to Asia. Since the scandal broke it has swiftly deleted any threads commenting on the scandal on the grounds that they are a “support group” and not a place for controversy. The trouble is that they promoted LE for years, so no redress of the balance seems biased and unhelpful. In fact there are probably members of the group who have no idea what happened at all because they have been so swift at removing any discussion.
What has happened on Reddit? I tried to follow the threads on there initially, but I find the format not user friendly.
Listener, what terms would you suggest using instead? I don’t want to help LE’s narrative. But I don’t want to be insulting to potentially exploited people either.

What’s striking to me about this guy, over many years, or right from the start actually, is his extreme sense of entitlement that people should treat him “fairly”, according to his own definition of what constitutes “fairness”, combined with an extreme lack of empathy for others, or any regard that they should be treated fairly.
His self-righteous declaration that any judgement of his private life is “unfair” displays this view. On the one hand he cries “unfair” because people object to his behaviour, and at the same time he has no regard whatever for how his actions affect his family, sex workers, or other exJWs. The huge gulf between his own self-regard and his complete lack of regard for others almost makes you wonder if he is knowingly playing some sort of game where he simply pretends not to understand the implications of his actions. But, in truth, he genuinely does not seem to understand. It does seem to involve pathology, as Dr Sohom Das said: a combination of narcissism and psychopathy. He displays total lack of insight into his own behaviour and inability to learn from mistakes.
The other characteristic that is hard to get to grips with from an outside perspective is the way he clings on to a lie well past the point where most people would give up. It’s similar to Elizabeth Holmes who kept insisting her fake blood tests worked well past the point where her deception had been fully exposed. Most people know when to give up and acknowledge they have been caught out. But psychopathic narcissists, it seems, just don’t have insight on when to give up on a lie. They just keep going and keep going and never stop no matter how tenuous or ridiculous the charade becomes.

Looks like he has a new business plan to make money from expats in Zagreb. A hopeful sign that he’s giving up on his ExJW business. 👍

I read the Facebook post. Wow! He lied to his wife and family for years, by his own admission, and used patron funds for illegal activity - yet he has the gall to call Kim Silvio a liar? The man has no shame.
I notice he didn’t include Andrew Gold or Dr Sohom Das, in the so-called litigation, who described him as psychopathic and resembling a cult leader. Wasn’t that worthy of a letter? Why could that be, I wonder? Afraid, possibly?
Most of his patrons left because of his own livestream, yet he claims they were “tricked”. Is he really so deluded? It’s disturbing to watch someone state such blatant falsehoods with apparent confidence. Some of his patrons have been tricked alright - the ones that have stuck around. They are getting fewer and fewer every month.
He says the litigation is costing a lot of money. Good. I hope he wastes the lot on his fantasy litigation. Good luck to the lawyers who saw this sucker coming. Is “vanity litigation” a term? Might be appropriate.

The way he said he wanted time in Thailand to ‘work out if he could be without his family’, it’s clear he thinks about nobody else but himself, ever. They will be better off without him. Also the way he said no one should ‘blame’ Dijana for him ‘needing’ to go outside his marriage. As if anyone would blame her for his behaviour. What planet is he living on? An uncomfortable glimpse into a dark psyche.
This song seems apt response to his so called need for space.
I reckon he’s realised that the YouTube/Patreon venture will not be viable in the longer term. But instead of winding it down he’ll probably string along the remaining patrons for as long as he can get away with, putting less and less effort into ‘churning out the content’ as he describes it, until it just fizzles out. If a small number of people keep sending him money for nothing, is he going to turn it down?
