Or it might be cash flow. They need money and they need it now. No long term financial analysis involved.
Would they have the brass neck to ask JWs to build another Assembly Hall shortly after selling the last one?
an old friend, a "brother" called from italy.
updated on a few things.. most interestingly, he said they just had their final assembly at their "beautiful assembly hall".. why would it be the final assembly?
because it's sold!.

They have only just built an Assembly Hall in Scotland. Would be really strange if they sold that too.

i've been thinking about this the past few days and curious what the honest consensus is here just for fun.. show of hands,.
is the governing body.... a: completely sincere.
they really do believe what they teach.. b: somewhat sincere.
Can't find interview with Jack Barr's wife. Have you got a link?
Could only find this one, which must have been either before Jack Barr died or after his wife died, as she isn't included.

Depends what you mean by sincere. And I think it varies by individual, and is all relative.
My take:
Splane - sincerely convinced, also sincerely full of crap, and very arrogant with it
Loesch - I have my doubts about him. He may have believed it fully to stsrt with, but now is in too deep to allow himself to deviate from the path, even if he realises it's rubbish
Morris - perhaps the most likely candidate for insincere hanger on, in my opinion
Jackson - actually seems quite sincere to me, perhaps the most sincere of the current bunch. He didn't do well at the ARC, but at least he tried
Sanderson - who knows? Quite young and ambitious. Who knows?
Lett - this guy is just plain nuts. Who knows what he believes? Does he know? I think yes, I'd put him down as a sincere believer
Who else is there again? I forget
Oh yeah Herd
Herd - I reckon he's a true believer too
That's my take.
In historical perspective I reckon the most sincere believer ever on the Governing Body was probably Jack Barr. And the most likely candidates for people who realised it was all nonsense - Nathan Knorr and Lyman Swingle.
evolution explains how everything descended from a common ancestor over millions of years.
creationists only seem to want to talk about what came before that common ancestor.
just for the sake of discussion let's pretend that the following is true.
You seem to think that any post that questions an assumption you have made is a "straw man".
Your opening post says most Christians have "adapted" their theology in view of evolution.
In fact, as I pointed out, non-literal readings of Genesis by Christians greatly pre-dated Darwin. Therefore it's not terribly accurate to describe them as restrospective "adaptations". This is explained in the link I gave.
This is obviously highly relevant. And it's not clear whether you are unaware that non-literal readings of Genesis predate Darwin, or how you reconcile this with your "adaptation" claim, since you don't bother to say.
Instead your modus operandi is to never address the point made but accuse instead.

Evolution is not an issue for most Christians. They have accepted the overwhelming evidence and adapted their theology. Evolution does not require atheism.
Better than that, Saint Augustine in the fifth century, argued that life developed under God's guidance on the basis of his reading of Genesis. He also argued that the universe was created from nothing and that time didn't exist prior to creation.
The idea that all Christians believed in creationism before Darwin came along and proved them wrong is, to use your favourite description, "wilful ignorance" of the facts.
You could argue it took science nearly 1500 years to catch up with Augustine's theological reading of scripture.
A good article on the subject:
last night i had jw broadcasting on in the background while i was working, i like to keep up to date with their crap.
which is strange because when i actually was a jw i hated reading or watching their material.. anyway, on the streaming section, anthony morris comes on screen telling me that higher education is bad and "the better the university, the greater the danger".
i never would have believed it if i hadn't seen him say it myself.
They may not need lawyers in the new system, but apparently they need them quite urgently right now. Plus when Morris gets sick I doubt he'll turn a doctor away.
ap – april 1st, 2017. russian earthquake forces putin to reconsider – won’t ban jehovah’s witnesses.
in a stunning reversal of events, vladimir putin had an emergency meeting with all un members and made a proposition unbanning jehovah’s witnesses worldwide.. after the devastating 6.9 earthquake in eastern russia, and after receiving nearly one metric ton of letters from jehovah’s witnesses worldwide, putin changed his mind and decided not only to not ban jehovah’s witnesses in russia, but proposed to the un to remove all restrictions from jehovah’s witnesses worldwide.. surprisingly, jehovah’s witnesses were not pleased.. david a. ssholian, the spokesman for jehovah’s witnesses, said that “this reversal is a disaster for jehovah’s witnesses worldwide.
we just can’t be unbanned everywhere, that would be a severe blow for our faith.”
Fake news
lately i have been studying some basic christology and jesus in the old testament and why first christians believed jesus was god in the flesh.
really interesting stuff.
i am not really sure if i fully understand it but i do now realize why pastors go to university and bible school for a number of years and also how their beliefs are not just based on a few verses that can be edited in the nwt.
I googled. Still not sure exactly what sites you mean.

JW Christology is the JW view of Jesus, including ideas such as: Jesus is an angel; he was created by God and has a beginning; he is not equal to God in power or eternity; he was elevated to his position by God; he worships God as other creatures do; when Jesus became human he did not have a dual nature; now Jesus is an angel again in heaven; he did not retain a human nature after his resurrection; he was resurrected with a spiritual body not a fleshly body, and so on. All of these ideas can be well defended from various Bible texts.
