I am sure many are starting to wonder!!!
Said every person who ever left the JWs after finding out it isn't true since the year nineteen canteen, or earlier.
it was announced this week that the theme for the 3 day convention is "do not give up".
these are the words that are spoken to someone who is struggling and is in the process of giving up.
this theme tells me that many in the organization are tiring out and slowing down.

Is that a Bible quote? I can think of "do not tire out".
In general it's a bad idea to present your message as a negative. If you don't want people to give up it's better to say positively: "keep in the race" or "keep on enduring". If you say "don't give up" all people can think about is "giving up".
If this is the theme, no doubt the full message will be: don't give up because the end is really near and you'll miss out completely if you don't keep doing as we tell you.
just writing down some notes to share with jws when i meet them.
here are a few of the problems of logic i see in their doctrines.
perhaps you can add to them.. systemic contradictions – jws boast about fighting for religious freedom – that is their freedom to share their differing views with people outside the organization - yet there is no freedom amongst members to disagree with any official teaching within the organization without the threat of losing friends and family.
Yet there were allegedly 7 million Christians who were martyred in the first 3 centuries of the common era alone
Where do you get that figure? I didn't think there were that many Christians in the first three centuries. And there is not so much evidence that large numbers were martyred.
randall watters presents the fascinating backstory of the "aid book", and the brouhaha surrounding it, in this article:.
"the watchtower bible and tract society: the critical years 1975-1997".
so far it seems the project to research and write the "aid to bible understanding" revealed serious doctrinal and institutional flaws that the gb wanted to preserve nonetheless.. it seems what ray franz and his team were learning, and were largely blocked from presenting:.
However I checked and there is no entry for "judicial committee" and no mention of it under the entry "judicial decisions" which does not mention the so-called Bible arrangement at all.

My mistake, there is a short discussion under expelling.
message from designer stubble to the former jwr members.
first of all i am glad to see that many of you have found your way to this great forum, facilitated by simon.
i am sure that after the dust of the jwr shutdown has settled, you will find this to be a good new home.. i would like to apologize for the sudden closure of jwr.
I never read the forum at all. Did anyone ever write anything on the site that was worth keeping? Those who ran the site apparently didn't think so.

It's also interesting to note what they left out of the Aid/Insight books. In particular they left out many of the speculative interpretations of Daniel and Revelation and the type/anti-type interpretations. A tacit admission even then, that most of this stuff would likely be scrapped at some point, so was better left out of their version of a Bible Encyclopedia if it was to have any longevity.
Come to think on it, and without checking, I don't think there are entries for "this generation" or the UN as the "scarlet-coloured beast" either. They probably knew they'd have to revise the first, and didn't want to promote the latter in such a formal statement of doctrine.
Also absent is any discussion of disfellowshipping or congregation discipline, which they claim is completely Bible based. If it's Bible based then why not discussed using Bible terms in a Bible dictionary?
I should have checked before making these points but I think they're correct.
i will review this post when it happens so.....prophecy time!
who will guess correct!
my $50 is on theodore jarc born in 1925?
The launch pad was the name for a cemetery where prominent (anointed) bethelites were buried in New York?

I think the major thing that arose from the Aid book research was the replacement of the congregation overseer with the new elder arrangement in the congregations, and the replacement of the presidency with the governing body as the centre of power in the organisation as a whole.

When I saw the thread title I thought to myself that's a bit crass I wonder who is involved in this discussion. And I open the thread and there is me, ha!
