Whenever I see the name Lee Elder it’s a nostalgic memory for me, because he’s the first “apostate” I ever heard of by name. I think it was during a midweek meeting for field service in the summer of 1999. I was visiting a new congregation and there was a big turnout for field service - about 20 or so of us crammed into a living room at 10am. In the chit chat before leaving, one of the brothers said that “apostates” were now causing trouble on the newfangled “Internet”. One of the apostates was calling himself a “Liberal Elder” and calling into question the blood doctrine. But he’s not a real elder at all, only pretending to believe one. Well that certainly sparked my interest! Next chance I got I used the newfangled Internet search (I think this was before google dominated) to find out what was going on. I found the AJWRB website, H2O, Reachout, this forum, and others within a short time.

Is there “new light” on 1914?

They grew by 1.4% last year? That’s not decline that’s growth.
Number of congregations has gone down slightly in recent years, which is the best evidence for decline, but that is a very modest drop compared to other churches, and even at that, the number of congregations actually went up slightly in 2023.

The Jehovah's Witness religion has ''Jumped the Shark''
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwhat does jump the shark mean?.
the phrase “jump the shark” is a term in pop culture that originated from the tv show “happy days” and is used to describe a decline in quality.
it refers to the moment when a tv show or other product has reached its peak and starts to decline in quality.

Yes, for me too, all these recent changes pale in comparison to the “overlapping generation” teaching. What on earth was that? I genuinely tried to understand what they were saying but it hurt my brain.

I’ve not read the whole thread, but in answer to the opening post I do believe it’s possible the GB will revise the 1914 teaching, given all the recent changes they’ve made. If they are taking the religion seriously then you’d think something needs to be done about it sooner or later. Maybe not abandon it altogether. I don’t know. Given the state of the world and the threats to the human race it is pretty ironic timing to be abandoning endtimes focus altogether, so maybe they won’t do that. So how do they abandon 1914 and keep the endtimes orientation? If Fred Franz was still around he might have come up with a new interpretation of the endtimes but there is nobody on the GB now who is up to the task. The projected AI “singularity” to fall sometime 2029 or 2045 according to various futurists seems tantalisingly close to 2034 that some have suggested Watchtower could tie into 1914 plus 120 years. But if they were going to point to 2034 in any significant way they are leaving it pretty late now.

Jana the only reason the LE channel still exists is because LE has no other source of income. It is on a permanent downward trajectory and will fold at the point where the amount of money it generates no longer motivates LE to even pay lip service to the idea he is running a channel for xJWs. By supporting him along the way you are only prolonging his grift and, many would say, the damage that he is able to do.

If Jesus could ride into Jerusalem on two donkeys then I don’t see why he couldn’t be executed on both a cross and a stake? 💡 If this turns out to be the correct answer I want credit. 😁

It doesn't work that way. Unless Croatia has some medieval divorce laws
Just because it doesn’t work like that doesn’t mean to say LE realises it doesn’t work like that. He is an expert in all things in his own imagination, including the law as his weird pronouncements on supposed libel have shown.
The idea of him paying for his wife and kids is as remote as the cat surprising me with breakfast in bed. He’ll weasel out somehow even if it lands him in a whole lot of trouble.

Its hard to make sense of it, but I think he was trying to say that hiring sex workers is just one thing among a variety of activities a person engages when going to Thailand and that his critics were being puritanical and/or racist by focussing on that one thing rather than, say, scuba diving or eating local food, that he did in Thailand. Unwittingly he seems to be saying that hiring the bodies of young women is just a regular part of his lifestyle and he doesn’t get why this would be objectionable or even odd for 99% of people.

Gosh Lloyd being interviewed by a channel that barely makes 1000 views per video. How low he has fallen. Given the low numbers, I don't think this guy would cancel the interview. If anything it will be his most viewed video.
He won’t go far if that’s indicative of his standards.
Anyone with any sense could see that the kind of publicity LE can provide is not publicity you want to have.
