Which book? The Live Forever book? The claim that the ‘generation’ alive in 1914 would live to see Armageddon.

Bait and Switch "Bible studies"
by Vanderhoven7 inmark jones, a witness for over 30 years describes what jws call bible studies offered to the public.. .
"they (jehovah's witnesses) offer you a free home “bible” study - which turns out to be a study of a watchtower publication with the bible brought out as an afterthought to try and prop up whatever current idea the governing body are claiming is “the truth” this week.. i think it’s underhanded.. when my parents became jehovah’s witnesses and they offered people a free home “bible” study, this is what they brought to study with them:.
what, did you think they were going to study the bible with you?.

It sounds like local elders in Croatia had LE pegged as a user, a misogynist, and possibly worse, early on, and tried to protect Dijana from him in their own fumbling way. I wouldn’t blame her if she returned to the KH if she has family and friends there. Many JWs are happy as JWs. Perhaps she would have been happier as a JW who never met LE in the first place.

Does anyone actually believe that Russia blew up its own gas pipeline?
by slimboyfat inthe claim that russia blew up its own pipeline functions, whether intentionally or not, as a test of our collective intelligence, and it’s worrisome how many fail the test.
as a former pentagon official put it, “a child could tell you that doesn’t make sense”.
they talk a lot about russian propaganda and suppression of their media, which i don’t doubt for a minute.

The idea that the Russians spent years on diplomacy, planning, and (billions) paying for the pipeline; that they wanted to investigate the explosion but were blocked from doing so; and that they subsequently explored whether it could still be repaired - yet nevertheless they ‘blew it up themselves’, is frankly risible.
And the idea that the nation who opposed the pipeline from the beginning; coerced their ‘allies’ to shun it against their own economic and security interests; and made not-so-veiled public threats against pipeline - nevertheless had nothing to do with its destruction (‘that’s a conspiracy theory!’) stretches credulity.
Politicians and media stating such are insulting our intelligence.
The timeline Seymour Hersh outlines, including the people involved, gives a very credible an account and aligns with the publicly known facts of the situation.
Again, I can’t 100% say I know who did it, but the fact that the most obvious explanation is not even entertained in mainstream discourse indicates we are operating under somewhat less than a ‘propaganda free zone’ in our own societies in the west.

Has the media got worse or are we just noticing it more now? Maybe this forum is skeptical of mainstream media, but not so much in real life, I find.
I was talking to a German about the pipeline when it happened. She said Putin did it. When I asked why she said because he’s crazy. When I said maybe the Americans did it she said that’s Russian propaganda. I said there were press conferences where the president and his spokeswoman both threatened the pipeline. She said she saw people posting that on Facebook but it doesn’t prove the Americans did it. I didn’t pursue it any further. I don’t know if she’s changed her mind since.
A few Scottish people I know also expressed the view that Putin did it. Only one person, outside of family, I have encountered who said the US is most likely.
Germans in particular perhaps have a hard time accepting the US did it, because bombing the pipeline was against German interests too. The US has been trying to convince Germany not to cooperate with Russia on the pipeline since before they even started building it. I guess, since persuasion didn’t settle the issue, blowing it up ended the discussion. If that’s what really happened then it doesn’t speak well to how the US treats its so-called allies. Such behaviour is a sign of weakness not strength because the US sees its power waning.
I can’t be certain the US did it, obviously. Whether that is what happened or not, the fact that the media don't even give airtime to that as a reasonable explanation speaks poorly to their objectivity and quality of their analysis.

They talk a lot about Russian propaganda and suppression of their media, which I don’t doubt for a minute. But how useless is our media? They don’t need to be suppressed or silenced because they are willing send out the most incredible nonsense apparently without having to be coerced.
Nuggets from our so-called free media over the last couple of years have included:
The lab leak was a “racist conspiracy theory”.
The idea that criminal drug companies could possibly lie about the safety of medical treatments was “dangerous medical misinformation”.
Meanwhile safe and effective preventive vitamin D supplements were given virtually no air time.
A senior Pfizer employee casting doubts on the safety of their product, not to mention the morality of those in charge of injecting billions - that’s not a story according to our media.
Twitter (and presumably other social media) being covertly all but run by the FBI - again is judged by the mainstream media not to be a story worth covering.
Now we are told that Russia is blowing up its own pipelines and bridges. Are we fools? Are they for real?
If we can’t trust them about those things, why should we trust them when they say China is spying with balloons and unidentified objects being shot down. I don’t know what that’s all about but we sure as hell aren’t likely to find out by watching the news of listening to the government.
Given that the destruction of Nordstream 2 is one of the biggest or the biggest attacks on foreign infrastructure in history, and can be construed in international law as an act of war, what kind of retaliation can we expect? If there is retaliation many won’t even see it coming because our media is complicit in lying about what actually happened.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses who are disfellowshipped allowed to communicate and comfort each other while waiting to be reinstated?
by Vanderhoven7 ini just read about a disfellowshipped person who was looking for other disfellowshipped persons to socialize with.
what does the org have to say about this?.
-
slimboyfat
I remember a time when there two or three disfellowshipped people at the back of our hall and they would sometimes talk among themselves because nobody else would talk to them obviously. They just had brief conversations at the beginning and the end, probably a couple of minutes at the most. But people complained and I think the elders told them that, if they wanted to get reinstated, then they shouldn’t be talking to each other either because it was ‘stumbling’ others in the congregation. Mmm.

Yeah LMSA, but apart from those things, a pretty nice guy?
I only watched the first few minutes of the video—it was too cringe to keep watching. Early on Tibor joked that, since LE was his only employer, that also made him his “worst” employer. Lloyd looked uncomfortable trying to laugh along with the joke. Or was it entirely a joke? Either way, Tibor would be wise to explore other avenues available to him straight away, because as soon as LE doesn’t need him any more, for whatever reason, he will be gone. I bet he is paid a pittance as it is. LE thinks he deserves the whole pie himself and will eliminate sharing with anyone else at the earliest opportunity. -

Exercise Patience Regional Convention
by Rattigan350 inthe theme of the in person convention this year is "exercise patience".
looking at the convention map, they are really using their assembly halls and they are using smaller civic centers or city arena.
no more huge stadiums.. are they not expecting a great crowd?

I remember sisters used to complain about the length of the queues for the toilets. They could hang one of these “Exercise Patience” signs. 💡

I imagine his reaction is just to be dejected and give up.
This guy has no sense of shame and he never gives up. He’s like the shapeshifting metal in Terminator, the indestructible arachnids in Arachnophobia, or the wounded knight who declared “only a flesh wound” in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. When any reasonable person would know the game is up, he just goes on and on and on. Will his steamroller approach work this time as it has in the past?

by Indoubtbigtime ini wonder how many are like me staying pimo for the great association and gathering etc.
