There are over 20 million JW adherents worldwide. That puts them in a similar range as the number of Jews worldwide. I don’t agree with the idea that JWs are totally insignificant in terms of numbers or cultural impact. Most people have heard of JWs and know at least a little bit about them. Most people have a friend, relative, colleague or acquaintance who is a JW at one time or another. JWs are fairly evenly spread compared with other religious groups, and in many countries most people have a KH in their local community. They have impacted the laws and rights granted in many countries too. They are far more widespread than Scientologists and Mormons. They have a similar spread as Seventh-day Adventists but are more distinctive and probably better known because of their preaching and distinctive beliefs and practices.

Would you still be angry with Lloyd Evans ?
by BettyHumpter inif instead of thailand, he had gone to a place where its legal and (supposedly) has some sort of oversight to prevent exploitation?
like nevada in the u.s or amsterdam in europe?
would the being unfaithful part still be a deal breaker as far as supporting his channel?

Are YOU saved?
by JW Answers insadly today, many churches and religious organisations teach their followers that they are saved based on something the bible does not record.
many people are following a lie, and are heading to a lost eternity and do not know it.. my question here is... are you saved?
it's vitally important to know!.

I find these blog style in-your-face, not-open-to-dialogue style posts from a fellow Scot embarrassing and, despite my best efforts to just ignore them, somewhat irritating.
What sort of mindset, anyway, makes it their mission, without any apparent connection, past or present, with JWs, to go out their way to decry and refute the JW worldview in particular? They often represent groups that are most likely to hold hellfire doctrines to be true - the irrational and, some would argue, God-defaming doctrine that was the impetus for Charles Taze Russell to strike out on a different course in the first place.

There is zero evidence that the Divine name was in the NT .
There’s the large number textual variants in the New Testament where kyrios (Lord) stands for the divine name; copies of the LXX that show the divine name was used in biblical texts at the time the New Testament was composed; testimony from Roman authors that ordinary Jews used the divine name in the form Yaho in the time of Jesus and the early Christians; the treatment of the divine name in the Syriac Diatessaron; references to the divine name in the New Testament text itself such as Revelation 3:12 and 14:1; and the presence of the divine name in the form Yaho in early onomastica used by Christians that explain the derivation of names in the Bible. These are all pieces of evidence for the divine name in the early New Testament. Plus the Bible scholars who have supported the idea that the divine name was in the original New Testament, including: George Howard, Lloyd Gaston, David Trobisch, John McRay, Frank Shaw and Luise Schottroff.

JW Obession with the trinity
by Riley inso a few years i watched a lecture series by a man named dr. micheal heiser called the two powers in heaven, jesus in the old testament.
funny thing was it wasn't even very evangelical in nature, so i turned off my religious binders and just watched it like a regular person.
it turns out that the new testament is a hinge point in the bible.

What does the Gospel of John teach? The answer of prominent Bible scholar Adela Yarbro Collins is as follows:
”In the Gospel it is clear that Jesus, as word or logos philosophically understood, is preexistent and divine in the sense of being an emanation of God or being ‘a god’ … God’s first creature, namely, the only-begotten god.” (Pages 202/3)
In response to a colleague who described Jesus as “a fully divine being” in the Gospel of John, Collins responded: :”it is not clear what Casey means by ‘a fully divine being’ here. If he means something like the second person of the trinity, it is doubtful that John 1 supports this interpretation.” (Page176) King and Messiah as Son of God: Divine , Human and Angelic Figures in Biblical and Related Literature (2008)
It’s also interesting to note that the Jewish writer Philo, writing a few decades earlier than the Gospel of John, described the Word/Logos as: “[God’s] first-born word, the eldest of his angels, as the great archangel of many names”. On the Confusion of Tongues 146

Why wouldn’t JW teaching on the identity if God and Jesus not attract more people than otherwise?

If I remember right, Mark O’s statement said that he wouldn’t work with LE out of respect for the feelings of others, kind of like the “not to stumble others” JW idea. Almost as if to say he didn’t have a problem with LE personally. Neither has LE attacked or litigated against Mark. Perhaps they are both leaving it open whether they can work together again in future, if and when the scandal blows over.

They hardly ever mention the Trinity these days. Their new study book mentions the word once in passing. Compare this to the old Let God Be True book that had an entire chapter on the Trinity. The old Trintiy brochure has not been updated or replaced since the 1980s. I don’t think JWs are particularly interested in doctrinal issues like the Trinity any more, partly because many householders are less religious these days, so it doesn’t come up on the ministry as often as it did in the past.
