When I say the âworstâ thing about LE is the length of his videos, I mean apart from all the worse things, obviously. đ

Interesting. Have you got any information on where Marvin Shilmer went? Didnât he support LE early on too?
I saw the video with Mark and two others discussing JW dot org yesterday. It was worse than watching paint dry. I endured about 3 minutes.
If other YouTubers want to displace LE they need to up their game. Hereâs a top hint: Make shorter videos! Less is more. The worst thing about LE and his imitators is that they take and hour an half to say something that could be said in ten minutes. Youâre not Joe Rogan. Most people arenât willing to invest hours of time on a summary of whatâs going on. A JW that presented succinct info in an easy style would be miles ahead of the others.

A bully picks his targets according to who he thinks he can intimidate. Heâs probably correct that Dr Das and Andrew Gold are not to be messed with, but heâs probably wrong if he thinks the XJWS he has targeted can be shut down. He reckons he can silence people as he has in the past, but he will probably find he is mistaken.

Lloyd himself said in the Andrew Gold interview that exploitation in Thailand was a âconversation worth havingâ, yet to my knowledge he is yet to engage in that conversation.

Does anyone else get âtriggeredâ when somebody uses the word âtriggeredâ?

I donât actually get âtriggeredâ LUHE, whatever that means, when someone says the word âtriggeredâ - that was meant to be irony. And I realise people have genuinely traumatic experiences but the term is increasingly used in trivial situations. Some young people seem to be constantly upset about something or other ⌠I wish I didnât start this stupid thread, ha !

Beards- just told by an elder
by dothemath ini know this subject has been talked about lots over the years, just thought i would share a recent finding from canada.. while visiting with a group of friends, an elder (donât recall how the subject came up) mentioned the local body had voted to allow brothers with beards be allowed to give talks from the platform.
(it was a very close vote).
the direction given was for each congregation to decide for themselves if that is now acceptable.. so some congregations will be for, and for many it will not.. itâll probably be a long time before we see any pictures on the watchtower where theyâre allowing this though..

Youâd think it should be up to each individual to decide.
As a JW, you just donât appreciate the level of control, and the lack of consultation in decision making, until you have experience of other religious organisations. The other organisation that most closely resembles the JWs for lack of participatory decision making in my experience is the Iglesia ni Cristo.
I remember one time at the KH the local body of elders announced a proposed purchase to the congregation and asked for any comments and questions before taking the vote. Instead of the usual perfunctory agreement as is normal in these situations, some people in the congregation, including sisters, actually asked real questions about the purchase and called it into question. Sensing that the vote might not go his way, the elder panicked and another elder took over the meeting, withdrew the resolution, and said they would return to issue at a later date. The elders convened an emergency meeting and the following week they âapologisedâ to the congregation for the âway the matter was handledâ. This time they made it clearer that the elders recommended the purchase and were not really inviting an open discussion about the issue. The congregation took the hint, they had a vote, and the vast majority agreed the purchase. But what I found interesting in the whole episode was how ready and willing ordinary members were to offer their opinions when they believed they were being honestly solicited. For some reason, the congregation had managed to forget a lifetime of training that participatory decision making has no place in the organisation, and acted as if the congregation as a whole was being invited to make a decision.

I agree NoCoinCollector, but purely because itâs the only way that he will ever stop.
Elizabeth Holmes was apparently still trying to do business deals even when she had been exposed as a complete fraud and was convicted. Such people just donât know when to stop and will not stop until circumstances made it impossible for them to carry on. In Holmesâ case, as with Lloyd, she majorly focussed on the apparent âunfairnessâ, as she saw it, that other businesses were allowed âfake it until you make itâ whereas she was exposed for making false claims. She still maintains that, given more time, her company could have developed technology that fulfilled the claims she was making. She had no answer, and no apparent concern for those she harmed by giving false results from fake blood tests, and all the medical and health impacts of that fraud. All she could see was that she felt âunfairlyâ treated. Itâs the same with Lloyd. He will never understand how he has harmed people. He will never be convinced that other people matter as much as his own sense that he himself should be treated âfairlyâ. He will never stop unless circumstances make it impossible for him to continue.
In that video the sections talking about ânot giving up on the lieâ and accusing those who expose you of being âhatersâ are highly relevant to LE.

Lloydâs new book
by jwfacts ini see there has already been discussion over lloydâs new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.
this includes discussion around his personality, motives and financial gains.
i have written a foreword for this book, because it is an important topic that has not been covered in such a complete format before.

Itâs disappointing Paul Grundy has not said anything. He helped launch Lloydâs career and supported it along the way. In those circumstances I donât think itâs honourable for him just not to say anything in light of whatâs happened.
As to why Paul Grundy claimed that Lloyd could have made more in other businesses, I donât think it requires that he either knew Lloyd well or was making a guess. Another possibility is that Lloyd boasted to him in those exact terms and Paul simply believed what he said.
In a certain way perhaps it is possible that translation business could have made more money than the EJW YouTube channel. But this ignores the fact that it would probably have required far greater skills, commitments, obligations, and deadlines to paying customers, and a heavy schedule of work. Lloyd canât even make his regular Zoom calls on time to his top tier donors. So in theory a translation business might have worked, but in practice itâs obvious why he preferred the YouTube channel.
