As far as I'm concerned, the Watchtower and Awake! magazines, as I used to know them, ceased publication a number of years ago. I don't know what to call the bullet-point leaflets they have been handing out in recent years.

So there are only 12 magazines left!
by stuckinarut2 inok, so hot on the heels of the announcement at the agm, we have been told that there are probably only 12 magazines left!.
yes, there will be only 3 wt each year, and 3 awakes.... and that they will do this for two years, then reprint those issues.... so yes, the "abundance of spiritual food" is limited to 12 more magazines..... surely, this is proof of the end coming so soon!?!
😉.

Update on the $4000 day fine - Padron v Watchtower
by berrygerry infrom reddit:.
this was an oral argument to dismiss the $4000/day fine.
both sides presented their arguments and now the judges will write an opinion (30 to 90 days).

Very interesting. How much do they owe now? Is it likely they will ever pay, I wonder. Or produce the documents. Or, presumably, both!

Watchtower letters normally emphasise with bold not with bold italiics.

I think it's a very bad idea to fake a letter like this. How can we know what's real in future? How can historians and journalists document authentic developments of the organisation? Very troubling, actually.

Compare the Nigerian letter with this genuine (I presume) letter from Ghana which includes the closing c: circuit overseers, and code 9/27/17-E, plus clear instructions on who the letter is to be shared with. The Nigerian letter lacks these features, in addition to the odd language noted above.

Plus, a small thing, but there's not enough space between the date and "TO ALL..." in the Nigerian letter.
Here is another genuine letter from Ghana to compare. Again notice the clear instructions on how the information is to be shared. Plus the format.

There was another letter on the forum recently that was fake. (Has anyone got a link to that?) The strange thing was it said nothing terribly outrageous either. I don't know what the motive was.
In this case the motive may be to slightly exaggerate Watchtower eagerness to ask for donations. But not exaggerate too much as to be unbelievable.
It did occur to me the style may be slightly different because it is from a local branch in Africa. But I think some of the layout and textual features are also inaccurate.
I think the letter is fake.

Fake letters have been presented on the forum before.
The issue is not whether wifi bandit is trustworthy. The issue is whether the letter is genuine. It's perfectly possible that a fake latter was sent to wifi bandit and he presented it in good faith.
I don't want to be rude but I think people who accept this letter as genuine display a lack of good judgment on this occasion.
More broadly, how can we determine if Watchtower documents are genuine these days? It's not an easy problem to resolve given new technology. Historians and journalists increasingly face these problems. The distinction between real and fake, reality and simulation will become increasingly blurred. Fake documents (and pictures and video) may pass for real, and real documents (and other media) may wrongly be dismissed as fake. It's a real(!) problem.

Plus the comment "we all put money aside for school fees" doesn't fit. Who is writing this? The governing body, or the local branch? In neither case do these individuals need to concern themselves with school fees. And as clumsy as they often are I don't think they would express themselves this way.

I don't think this letter is genuine. Am I the only one?
Some the language sounds like someone mocking Watchtower speak rather than genuine Watchtower speak.
For example, I don't think it is typical for letters to direct elders to "convey the information". Letters are either read to the congregation or they are not. This seems uncharacteristically ambiguous. How is the information supposed to be conveyed?
Plus I don't think Watchtower commonly refers to comments by Paul as "a piece of advice". It's just odd language.

I can't put my finder on it, but it reads a little off to me. Are we sure this is genuine?
It's going to get increasingly complicated to identify genuine documents and sources as technology makes forgery so much easier.
I'm not saying this letter is definitely not genuine. Possibly, or even probably, it is. But I think we've had fake letters posted on the forum before. And it can be extremely difficult to tell the diffidence.

Actually I already saw it on the other threads. But I thought, at the third time of asking, it deserved the response I had formulated in my head, but was too lazy to post for the previous threads.
And my posts get delayed all the time too. I've been on restrictions since like forever. Even Watchtower would have reinstated me by now.
