Changed when? In the 2013 Bible or what? That was a while ago. I don't follow this.

Instructions For Merging Congregations
by wifibandit ininstructions for merging congregations s-67-e 9/17.
-

1. The elders shouldn't tell publishers about mergers being considered.
2. And publishers in one congregation shouldn't tell publishers in another congregation until all announcements have been made.
Heaven forbid that ordinary JWs should be involved or even aware of such discussions. And heaven forbid that a JW should tell their friends about the development before the elders get to make the announcement.
JWs spend an incredible amount of time regulating who knows what and when. Even if it means delaying knowledge for just a few hours they need "direction" on who can say what to whom. Where did they learn to be such control freaks?

Does anyone know if previous instructions on dissolutions of congregations have been distributed or is this the first one?

"exjws" and money making Ponzi schemes.
by Thisismein1972 inok i want to pose a question to those who care to discuss this.. imagine a scenario.
you hear of a exjw writing a book, however, before writing this book this exjw is requesting money to publish said book.
you go along with it and help to get this book out to the public as you think that it will be beneficial.

Oh right, that's a bit of a cheek, asking others to work for free when he expects to be paid himself.

Where is the 2000 sales figure from?
Sales ranks look pretty good on all pages.
At £20 new it's not cheap, and 2000 sales already at that price doesn't seem bad at all. But I wonder whether the optimum price may have been a bit lower. Maybe £10 to £15.
Anyone can write a book on any subject they like and charge whatever they like. It's up to others whether they buy or not.
I find it annoying that some people think work should be given away free. Or that writing is not real work.

The continuous begging for money is embarrassing.
And subject to diminishing returns, one suspects.

When is the last time you saw an educated middle class family become Jehovah's Witnesses?
by xjwsrock inwe know from casual observation that if anybody does respond to their preaching/recruiting work it is usually someone that is a social misfit in some way or a person that was indoctrinated early in life.. think about all the nicer neighborhoods witnesses preach in.
if a family of four with a father that is an engineer and a mother who is a medical professional ever walked into a kingdom hall for the first time and said they were studying, people would faint.
lol.... this of course isn't what you would expect from a religion backed by the ultimate intelligent creator.

Ha! Steve
btw I know of no normal families becoming JWs in my lifetime. I heard of it happening in the 1970s and earlier.

It's things like this that really make me wonder what goes through the minds of JWs these days. How do they justify it to themselves? To my mind, at one time, JW beliefs were at least plausible. And if you wanted to find problems with JW doctrine, such as 607 BCE, you had to specifically go looking for them. At least the doctrinal system was in itself coherent, even if it lacked outside evidence or support.
But with the overlapping generation, and increasing partakers, the inconsistencies are right out in the open.
The typical JW reaction seems to be just to avoid talking about these issues. That doesn't seem normal. Most JWs must know something's not right. I just find it weird.

Does Morality Exist?
by Fisherman insome people believe that stealing, lying and killing, is not moral.
some people don't.. does morality exist?
if so, prove it..

I found this book helpful, for what it's worth.
It basically explains how faith can make sense in a postmodern world. In fact makes the best sense. This relates most directly to morality as God is the source of a definite morality. But during the explanation it does a good job of explaining social constructionism too. It's not polemical but has an assured confidence in its position.

It's nothing to do with the guns. It would have happened without the guns. Don't exploit the situation by talking about guns.
And other such nonsense. Does it never get old?
