Was that the same case where the parents made the child eat cat food?
I am watching CNN right now and I think that is the same case.
Sick! They need to lock them up and throw away the key!
in nyc, there's a case of a little girl who was regularly beaten and "disciplined" y her stepfather with the mother's knowlege, explaining that here 8 (?
) year old daughter was at times "insolent and sneaky".
eventually, the man tortured her to death.

Jehovah's Witness Sign in Senmaya
Originally uploaded by jasohill . When I set out my usual walk around Senmaya today, I wasn't prepared to actually open my eyes and look around me. But look what happens when I did. I discovered an intricately placed network of religious signage. I'm guessing it was the local Jehovah's Witnesses that placed these ones. I find it creepy and mysterious all at the same time. they just stick out at you. Check out my Senmaya set over at Flickr to see more of them.
Family Center's moving plan upsets new neighbors January 16, 2006 By Peter Hirschfeld Times Argus Staff | |||||||||
MONTPELIER – An organization that provides services to nearly 4,000 central Vermont children and parents each year is planning to move from its basement dwellings on College Street. But would-be neighbors worry the Washington County Family Center will bring unwanted traffic and noise to their peaceful Sherwood Drive community. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/do/2006/jan/13/519960574.html
Pioneer LV lounge singer Ricco diesBy Ed Koch <[email protected]>Las Vegas Sun The Characters were one of the first Las Vegas lounge acts to earn a million-dollar contract. They had one of the longest-running acts of their kind, performing regularly at the Sahara's Casbah Lounge from 1955 to 1969. And when The Characters performed in the early 1970s in the lounge at the Hotel International -- today the Las Vegas Hilton -- they found a fan in Elvis Presley. Lead singer Johnny Ricco, the last surviving original member of the group that helped usher in the heyday of Las Vegas lounges, died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was five days shy of his 77th birthday. Along with the Mary Kaye Trio, Sonny King, Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Sam Butera and Freddie Bell, The Characters played a major role in establishing the lounge -- and its free shows -- as a viable entertainment venue during Las Vegas' formative years. "Johnny was the straight man -- the singer -- the glue that held the group together," said Las Vegas comedian Steve Rossi, who first performed in Las Vegas in 1946 and was the straight man for the team of Allen & Rossi. "He had a terrific voice and he never got tired when performing four sets a night, seven nights a week. And those were high-energy performances -- tough work." The other members of The Characters were Charles "Blackie" Hunt, Carmine "Carmen" Baccari, and his brother Freddie "The Champ" Baccari. Rossi said he first saw the group perform shortly after it was formed in 1953 at Polombo's, a restaurant in Philadelphia, the town where the band originated. In addition to playing several local lounges, The Characters also were a popular lounge act in Reno, Lake Tahoe, New York, Florida and Canada. Rossi said Presley often frequented Las Vegas' lounges to catch the up-and-coming talent and "he loved The Characters and The Vagabonds." After Carmen Baccari left the group to pursue a career as a Jehovah's Witness minister, he was replaced by singer Lorraine Perry, who later married Blackie Hunt and today is Nevada's lieutenant governor. The Characters continued to perform through the early 1970s. After they broke up, Ricco put together several trios. Among the places he worked over the years were the Sahara's Don The Beachcomber, the Imperial Palace and The Bootlegger, a restaurant owned by Lorraine Hunt. The Characters were inducted into the Casino Legends Hall of Fame in 2002. Then-surviving members Ricco and Blackie Hunt were on hand for the ceremony at the Tropicana Hotel. Blackie Hunt died the following year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.wrgb.com/news/local/local_news.asp?selection=article_46004 Police still looking for killer (Troy - CBS 6) — Troy police are still looking for the person who murdered an elderly man. "We appreciate your asking us for a response. The World Headquarters for Jehovah's Witnesses respectfully decline to respond," said a representative at the World Headquarters for the group. "They tell you that you will be ex-communicated if you ever decide to leave and that your family will not be able to talk to you — I haven't spoken with my mother for over 25 years," she said. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.atlantahomeservices.com/roofing.htm

Last paragraph here:

Sources close to Michael Jackson denied the rumours that he was planning to donate money for the building of this mosque according the Bahrain based Gulf Daily News. In the past Michael Jackson donated huge amounts of money for building Watchtower Properties.
i've tried a couple of times to go to reexamine.org today and it's not coming up.
anyone else having trouble getting to it?.
aim i spelun it rite?
The site came right up for me also! No problem!
i failed to find the thread right now, but there was a thread as to the 2005 annual report, and it was stated that the number of pioneers had dwindled from 858,461 to 623,308 - 27 %.
and comments were made on how little the society cared etc.
but, had yoy bothered to look closely at the figures (perhaps you've been well trained in sloppy statistics and misrepresenting by a certain group from before ......), you would have noticed thatthe column for pioneers this year has been divided in two - one for auxilliary pioneers and one for regular pioneers.

Viv Nicholson became the biggest Pools winner in history in 1961, collecting pounds 152,319 - the equivalent of pounds 5m today. She promised the nation she was going to "spend, spend, spend".A factory worker and mother of four, Viv lived in her home town of Castleford, Yorkshire, at the time. She bought a large bungalow with her second husband, Keith Nicholson, they sent their children to boarding school, and turned to a life of constant drinking, partying and shopping.
Over the next 15 years, her husband died in a car crash, she remarried three times, dyed her hair to match her cars, and travelled the world spending all her money. Eventually, she was reduced to stripping in a club, and consoled herself with alcohol.
Since then, Viv's life has changed dramatically. She has returned to Castleford, lives with her granddaughter, Brooke, and is now a devout Jehovah's Witness. At 62, she lives on a state pension, and has a job as a perfume sales assistant. She still loves to shop. A musical about her life, Spend, Spend, Spend, is at the Piccadilly Theatre in London, starring Barbara Dickson.
Do you buy lottery tickets now? And what's your favourite scratchcard?
No I don't buy lottery tickets or scratchcards. I am a Jehovah's Witness now and have been for 21 years. Gambling is not allowed. What do you think of those lottery winners who say the money won't change their lives?
You read about them every other week and they say that their lives will not change. Then you read about them later and their lives have changed. It makes some people lonely. One winner went to live in Spain and had to come back because he was drinking too much. Some people's wives leave them. I think it's silly to say that the money won't change your life.Did people treat you differently when you had lots of money?
This was strange. When we won the money, we were sent to Coventry by the people in Garforth, where we lived. They didn't want me on the same housing estate. No one spoke to us and it was hard for me to speak to anyone. Had someone moved next door I would have made myself known to them and been friendly. It was very lonely. After about four years, people started being OK, but it was too late by then. Even my old friends left me. They said they didn't want people thinking that they were going about with me because I had money. It's sad, because they were lovely people. Were you worried about having a musical made of your life?
I was. When I gave my consent, I never really thought anything would happen with it. I just left it with Justin and Steve [Justin Greene and Steve Brown, who wrote the lyrics and music for Spend, Spend, Spend]. Then, two years later, they'd done it and announced that they were going to the Leeds Playhouse. I was saying to myself, "Oh no, what have I done?" I was living a quiet life as a Jehovah's Witness and was happy. I was worried that it would rake up my past again.Do people recognise you when you knock on people's doors as a Jehovah's Witness?
Yes they do. Some look at me and say: "I know who you are." Then they close the door on me. Others are happy to see me. They say: "Hey, you're Viv Nicholson, aren't you?" But I never think of who I am at all when I knock on people's doors. I go as myself, rather than as a famous person. Are you at all bitter and twisted, or quite happy with your lot?
I'm quite happy with my lot. I'm a happy chappy. I can make any situation happy. You don't have to have money to be happy....
has the new uk blood card been posted on this site yet?.
