TD It was her real name; she was quite a spitfire and not afraid to give her experiences. She was in a nursing home 13 years ago, not expected to leave.

What does the Catholic church think of JW?
by Halcon inon a trip to rome a few years ago i asked my friend (who is roman and jw) what the catholic faith thinks of jw.
he simply stated that jw is tolerated by the church but that really not much thought is given to them.
is there an official stance on jw by the catholics?

In the long ago past in the day of Russell prior to 1918, he did have some strong words to say about the Catholic Church saying it was the biggest part of the religions Russell said were not part of the true religion, had been rejected by god; and this was put in print in many places. Rutherford continued this in his books. By the time of Nathan Knorr, then they started toning that down quite a bit. There was some response by the Catholic Church but was only emphasized by the Watchtower themselves to say that proved the Watchtower were the only true religion. The Church did warn its members from reading Watchtower material. There were only about 50,000 Bible Students (jws in 1931) at that time.

I knew her and visited her at her home several times. She gave much of her time to do this. She has been gone from some time, and I have never seen an ex-jw do what she did in the same self-sacrificing way.

Is anyone watching The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu?
by Biahi inafter finishing season 6, episode 5, it occurred to me that, if the jws were right, (they’re not), the “new system” would end up being very much like this.
picture the commanders as the elders.. it’s a riveting series.
i wanted to see it, because i read the book when it first came out.

https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/22439/diary-armageddon-survivor An interesting story of how it would really be in the "new system" if current policies and treatment were applied, more than likely. https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/22439/diary-armageddon-survivor

Ugottobekidding. "If you, with your wise preparation for retirement, are worried because of an insecure future, what about Witnesses who did little or nothing?" Currently, I am concerned seeing the global be attacked and becoming unstable...but the world has come through before." But I am not depending on my retirement/social security. Everything can disappear for all of us if this insanity continues.. As to jws, they just figure their god will help them out. There are articles in WT publications, telling the elders that they should help members fill out paperwork to qualify for money for secular sources. "In some countries, the government may help the elderly by providing pensions and other programs." "For example, the elders may be able to help the parents find out what assistance the government can give to older ones. "

Green Handshakes - Taxable income in Australia
by Listener ini was doing some research on the taxable status of money being gifted to co’s and travelling missionaries and was surprised with what i found.
i had assumed that it was not taxable income in australia.. it is taxable income in australia and it‘s likely that the same rules apply in some other countries.. a registered religious institution only receives tax free status on donations because they have been endorsed by the australian tax office.
travelling overseas and missionaries are not in this category.. there’s a tax ruling that goes into great detail.

When my husband was appointed elder, he came back after the elders' meeting with the circuit overseer at the circuit assembly; told me he saw elders slipping money to the circuit overseer. He was stunned. Got him to thinking; all the things he saw elders do made him to eventually leave.

JULY 2025 Study WT Make Decisions
by blondie inwt july 2025 make decisions.
however, if we are humble and modest, we will be quick to absorb the bible-based advice we hear and to benefit from it.. and like david, we should be willing to listen to good advice, no matter who gives it.
an unmarried friend might be helpful if he bases his advice on bible principles.

That's right, hoser. Even the WTS makes statements and is dishonest putting a scripture citation after it. "The Governing Body is the group of men with the heavenly hope who are used by God to direct the work of his people. In the first century, Jehovah used a governing body to guide the early Christian congregation in their worship and their preaching work. Acts 15:2 (citation) Person reading thinks they don't have to look it up, they know what it says, but do they? "But after quite a bit of dissension and disputing by Paul and Barʹna·bas with them, it was arranged for Paul, Barʹna·bas, and some of the others to go up to the apostles and elders in Jerusalem regarding this issue. (Notice that the phrase "governing body" does not appear in this scripture they only cited (not quoted) in fact the phrase "governing body" doesn't occur in any bible including the RNWT (Revised New World Translation (by WTS)
