in the march 2025 jw broadcast david splane in his morning worship talk mentioned that "some thought" that armageddon would come 40 years after 1914. such statements are usually meant to shift the blame of their own false predictions on to their members for speculating.
however, i was unable to find anything in print showing that such a thing was indeed taught by the society.

The Bible does not provide details as to what sexual practices between a husband and a wife should be considered clean or unclean. A Christian couple must make decisions that reflect their resolve to honor Jehovah, to please each other, and to maintain a clean conscience. since i faded i've told a few people at work about having been raised in this organization but i found that most people don't really get what it is like at all.
they just focus on not celebrating holidays as if that is the worst thing about growing up jw.

I never tell them that, but I do say I have relatives that are who are always trying to convert me, for years. Some do come back to ask how to deal with jws that keep trying to convert "them." I give them some choices...

Boogerman, just try to find "governing body" in the bible, too. That quote was from 1971 when the WTS formed a new version of the "Governing body," Used to be the members on the board of directors. I forgot that point. Also the circuit overseer was viewed as one of the elders, not above them. Also, "governing body" was not capitalized until WT 12/15/1971 p.755

I always felt that some jws that went on and on how the demons were attacking them, that why they thought their god could not protect them from that? That usually stopped them ranting around me. So many of them were on the fringes of the jw group, felt left out and needed attention, they thought this would get them attention, :( I will tell an experience of how one circuit overseer, tried to deal with one sister's belief that she demanded that others believe, that buying anything at a garage sale was a bad thing, it might be demonized and she counseled others that it was wrong for "them" to do it. He asked once at the meeting, based on that, could you buy a used car, maybe the previous owner was demonized, or even a new car, because a demonized person might have helped it be assembled? Well, that shut that down in that congregation on that point.
