Caltech cosmologist Sean Carroll says that energy is not conserved in universal relativistic acceleration, because energy is already not conserved in General Relativity:

Sean Carroll prescribes sticking with the first Friedman equation which runs off total energy density:

Drexel cosmologist Dave Goldberg allows the anthropic principle to answer why our dark energy is so much smaller than the analogous/comparable vacuum energy:

Some random physics prof asserts conservation of energy since Big Bang, because QM:

UC mathematician John Baez provides a hack equation for conservation of energy in GR, but does not say it is universal:

Young Czech string theorist's attempt to explain why energy is not conserved in a cosmology with GR:

Keep in mind that photons redshift and lose energy coming up out of a gravity well, and photons lose energy crossing the (accelerating) expanding dimension of space. Your counsel is your own.

" the universe made itself " but---
by prologos inwatching the fertilization of an ovum and subsequent cell division it appears that the new being is making itself.
parents were involved, unskilled labor, time, energy.
no thing has ever been observed to make itself, to my knowledge.

I think that the conception of a reality or a physical universe without a deified first cause is a fourth spatial dimension unto itself, and, depending, sometimes, it literally, figuratively, and mathematically, cannot be conceived.

"What exactly is his world view? from Cofty I see nothing but, anti-life, anti-love, anti-hope"
by cofty invillagegirl's question on another thread was probably supposed to be rhetorical but i want to respond to it.. many times people of faith express similar misapprehensions about those who don't share their views on eternity.. i want this to be a positive thread.
an opportunity for atheists to share what moves and inspires them.
what do you live for, what gives your life meaning and purpose?

Anthemic. In general, my impression of those who must believe is that they are prone to self-satisfaction, and those who cannot believe are prone to the inability to be satisfied. Different brain chemistries for different folks: Some habits reward in the sense of belonging to a group that is subordinate to a broader context. Some habits reward in the sense of defying, breaking, expanding or complicating those broader context(s).

Ok, now I know why you atheists get so spittin' mad at some believers.
by Julia Orwell incuz they feel like they're banging their heads against a wall.. i don't really fall into the category of atheist or believer, but i'll go where the facts lead me.
that generally leads to atheism, and is why atheists end up getting mad and therefore rude at believers: they will lay out facts, raise questions, play devil's advocate, and reason in an evidence-based, structured way.
i've seen it many times before on this forum.

I looked up the defintion of an apostate and found a possible tactic in talking to a JW.
by 5go inassuming they converted to being a jw that is.
because simply converting reigions or changing one's beliefs makes one an apostate by defintion.. just though i would bring that up..

Good. This reception answers and quenches an anxiety I had over using JWN too much as a crutch during this period of working on grad level astronomy computer codes. The amount of room in the universe under the JW umbrella is very limited, and you do really have to fit to stay inside that umbrella. During these three or four months I have downloaded a lot of news about what JWs are doing in JW world, which includes the resort/retreat, the simplification of literature, and juicy details of how the real estate empire works. The single thing I hope to have uploaded to the visitors is that getting out after, or long after, the prime of your human youth does not eliminate you in what you aspire to. I can only hope that during these months I have bled pain much less than 8 years ago when I first came here. Putting pain in context so you can communicate some lesson comes only with time. Enough from me, for now. Thank you for the lols.
