NJ is LIVE today! It seems as if there is no restaurant around who is not having a superbowl party. Giants gear on everyone. That's all everyone is talking about. Strangers, even. It's like New Year's Eve here and I'm loving it.

Super Bowl XLII 2/3/2008 Official prediction / comment thread
by Gopher inso the new york - boston rivalry will now play out in the nfl's 42nd super bowl on february 3, in the game between the new york giants and the new england patriots.. will new england be able to keep its perfect winning record?
they have won every game thrown at them, even a few games where they looked vulnerable (such as against the baltimore ravens and even against the n.y. giants).
will their talent and will to win prevail?.

Being a Pro-Life Atheist
by B_Deserter init's strange and i'm not sure if it's because of my upbringing, but i just can't be pro-choice.
i just don't see the rational justification (other than a situation where the mother's life is in danger).
i don't, however, see a problem with stuff like the morning-after pill, when the embryo is just a group of cells with no consciousness.

I am a pro-choice atheist. When it comes down to it, reality, pregnancy is a medical condition in which one can choose to continue or terminate. Since it is a woman's individual body and a condition her body is in, she can decide (fortunately, legally) whether or not to remain in that condition. That is why it is legal and in my opinion, should remain legal, safe, and confidential.
What pain will a fetus/embryo/bunch of cells feel being terminated before birth, as compared to a lifetime of being unwanted/uncared for? Only the mother could decide something like that. Making life is not as miraculous as some of us would like to think. Any two idiots can do it. It's sustaining a happy and healthy life that's a miracle.
Great words, there beksbks. Being unwanted for 29 years, I can tell you it sucks to say the least.
What I find disgusting is the fact that as soon as the word abortion is mentioned, so many jump to the statements of not agreeing with women who in your eyes do so as a form of birth control! Wake up! That's an entirely different subject, don't you think? How many women are in the "10+ abortions category" vs. one or two etc.?!?! It's ok to see it as an individual's choice and NOT shoot out remarks like that. Doing so is close to saying: "Women who have an abortion see it as birth control regardless of why they choose to terminate."
Is that what's keeping you or someone you know pro-life???

Quit or Get Fired?
by SixofNine ini have a good friend who is probably going to be moving out of state within six months or so.
her problem is that she doesn't think she can endure six months in her current work environment.
it's a huge international corporation, with really nasty, stupid, ineffective middle management, and she has zero political or managerial power there.

There is no point in quitting a job in this country unless you 1) don't have to work or 2) you already have another job to go to!
I feel her pain.

Have you started to do "bad" things now, or want to?

Start her on TV soap operas
Yes.
I recommend then ordering HBO and watch some shows on demand--Sex & The City, for example. Maybe she'll move up to something like Cathouse. Then she can consider herself to be the average woman--NOT a "bad" thing.

Remember that the last game these teams played in December was a 38-35 affair.
Exactly. The Patriots ARE beatable and especially so by the Giants.
I'm even going out on a limb here (Brady's...ha ha ha) and wearing my new Manning jersey this Sunday!
Let's go, GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gawd, I wish I was in Arizona.

Slowly but surely...
by nvrgnbk inword is spreading.. the elder that works with me told me that a ministerial servant in his congo asked him about the un scandal.. he confirmed to the brother that the watchtower was involved with the un but later disassociated itself and warned him that not all elders would handle his question so discreetly.. i doubt we'll see the cult disappear, but it's encouraging to see that many are waking up and are at least asking some difficult questions..

That's good to hear, Nvr.
Even my friend, upon learning of the UN association, decided that even if it did happen, it must have been for some reason to benefit the bros. I think some people will rationalize that, for whatever reason it was necessary, the motive of the WTS was altruistic.
There will always be die-hards.
Tula, you're right-That is something for me personally to keep in mind should I ever actually get that call from Brother M...z about my letter disclosing the UN information.
This was one of the laslt blows to my already thin strings to the wt.
