My ex and I taught are kids to refer to one person (a good friend of my ex's as Auntie, and non-family member). The only other people that got an affectionate title were there Godparents (Nino & Nina).

Kids referring to older ones as AUNTIE or UNCLE
by lowden ini don't know about other patrs of the world but in the uk, youngsters were expected to refer to older ones as auntie or uncle.
i publicly told my children not to do this, i thought it was reeeeally creepy.
my main reason for this is that i think it creates trust in people that are strangers to the family unit and for some kids, it's part of the grooming process for molestation.

4/20 - smoke'em if ya got'em
by BrendaCloutier inaccepted origin
, high times magazine, the marijuana-logues, and the straight dope claim that in the early 1970s, a group of teenagers at san rafael high school in san rafael, california used to meet every day after school at 4:20 p.m. to smoke marijuana at the water tower.
one piece of evidence supporting an origin of the term from the time 4:20 is the fact that the number is always said "four twenty" and not "four hundred twenty.

but you yourself might have an addictive nature and not be able to stop moving from the use of a recreational substance to the ABuse of a recreational substance, so you might just be talking about yourself... well?
Now, as far as the rest of you go. I have just always found it amazing how quick one gets stepped on for voicing an opinion that goes against the common train of thought. I have lurked here for years, before I posted, and it has always amazed me that those that claim to be the most tolerant are actually the least. WIth that said, I leave you to your cannabis induced paranoia. -

and I would rather not continue on that downward slide into human debris,
I don't even know what to say to that.... I don't consider myself debris... do you consider people who consume alchohol debris also?Ah, the attempt at moral equivalency. Or is this an attempt at shutting up those that express a negative opinion?
The last time I looked I could voice an opinion about any topic. At least it used to be that way in the America I knew.

Nothing like the smell of pot on Hitler's birthday is there?
Actually, it is much better if you taste it (inhale) rather than smell it...Did enough of that in my J-Dub days (inhaling), and I would rather not continue on that downward slide into human debris, thank you very much.

by RichieRich inyesterday after school i had to go work on a project with friends.
mom said be home by 5, but there was a huge accident a mile from where i live, and i sat on the road for like 10 - 12 minutes, and was 5 minutes late getting home.

Richie, please read the following with tongue firmly implanted in cheek.
Of course she can't trust you! You have left Jehober's "loving" Borginization! This means that you are going to screw anything with two legs, drink like a fish, and use drugs!
On a more serious note, I fully understand what you are going through. If you read my story you know that I knew I would be thrown out of the house if I even applied for college. You have guts, a safe place to vent, and get advise (which was something I didn't have). I can imagine the hell your life must be right now, but focus on the end result, your freedom. The prize is often made more valuable because of the struggle.

I think that the amount of evidence for or against God is about equal. What is going to make the difference is the amount of faith you put into one or the other based on its track record.

Why no baptism certificates?
by Bumble Bee inthe day you are baptized as a jw is supposed to be one of the most important days of your life.
if this is so, why don't they present you with a baptism certificate, or something noting the importance of the occasion?
i forgot the date of my baptism and had to ask my mom!

I got your reason why they don't:$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ All that stuff cost money, and it also brings recognition to the person that was baptized. Jehober wants no attention taken off his Borg for any reason.

My Wife Just Called Me...
by XJW4EVR inshe found an envelope with my name and "personal & confidential" typed on it taped to the door of our apartment.
i asked her to open it and read it, and evidently there is some evidence of apostacy that they want to review with me this saturday (4-21-06) at 7:30 pm.. the funny thing is that i have not been to a meeting since 1993, the last time i was at a circuit assembly or district convention was 1995!
i know that i have been spotted going to my church (3 blocks from the king-dumb hell).

A couple of things...
Thank you for the catch on the date Confusion. The date is 4/22/06.
Secondly, I got home last night, and read the letter. I will scan the letter over the weekend and post it here. I made a copy of the letter, and took it over to the King-dumb Hell. I walked up to the elder conducting the CBS (I knew him from my time at the Hell) and as chance would have it happened to be the presiding elder of the J.C. I asked him why he was wasting his, and more importantly my, time with a J.C. against someone that is obviously no longer considering himself a JW. He said that he wanted to know where I stood on certain things, because some members of the Cong. have asked about me. I said that it was none of their business, and that if they couldn't figure out that I was no longer a JW, then they continue to be as stupid as always. I then asked why something marked "personal & confidential" was taped to my door. He said that he did not feel he had to waste postage on me (I think my remark about stupid JWs got him a little heated). I told him that I up until that day, I had limited my battle with the WTB&TS to educating people within my church. However, I am now thinking of taking the offensive and exposing all the dirty little secrets of the JW's. Primarily, that the JW's harbor pedophiles, and that the community needs to be protected.
I also told him that since I no longer consider myself a JW, that the elders are violating policy in the Pay Attention book. That the elders, in not mailing their request and instead taping it to my door also violated my right to privacy, since anyone could have read that letter. I asked him whether or not Bethel would be interested in their little charade. I told that if Crooklyn wasn't interested, I am sure that I could get the interest of an attorney or two. I also told that any attempt to disfellowship me in absentia will be met with legal action against each member of the JC, and each member of the BOE. I also told him that nothing would give me more pleasure than to take him to court and have to answer for this. I then turned and walked back home.
It felt good to have power, and to watch a man that is nothing more than a self-righteous jerk melt in fear when I threatened him with a lawsuit.
Lastly, I am not in Sacramento, I am in Los Angeles.
