Yes, and the reason is simple. Look at Gregor's opening post in the "Put Up or Shut Up Thread." WHy would anyone want to debate that?

Are you tired of the whole atheist/believer debate?
by nicolaou ini'm usually the first one to stir this particular pot but it get's so frustrating to keep coming up against the same old arguments.
the phrase "banging your head against a brick wall" springs to mind.
how many times have believers argued for a designer but refused to answer the obvious question of the designer's origin?.

Is David Blaine Possessed?
by lonelysheep inthat is a question i used to ask myself in my dub days.
prior to that, i'd always enjoyed magic and stunts, simply for entertainment, and always felt it was just a bunch of bologna.
then, when i studied the bible, there were the answers, so i thought!

As an amatuer magician & a Christian I run into this alot. I remember once that a group of us watched David Blaine, and he did some sort of trick with the mark writing out his/her name, and then "burning" that person's name onto his arm. My firends got all disturbed, and thought he was demon possessed until I replicated the trick for them, and should them how it was done. I then told them that this is what magic is, me controlling their eyes to see what I want them to see.
That being said, David Blane is a very good magician, though I am more partial to the classical magician's style of Lance Burton.

OK believers, time to put up or shut up...
by Gregor inapparently, a large percentage of xjw's who post on this site have embraced some other form of god/jesus belief to replace the wt doctrine.
most of them fall into the "i accept the lord jesus christ as my personal savior" class.
they are still extremely attached to the old "forgiveness of sin through the shed blood of jc" line.

XJW4ever - The basic request for this topic was that there be no BS, and you bring up what amounts to a belief in a parallel universe. Naughty, naughty!!
A parallel universe? No, I was attempting to truly ascertain what it is you believe. Obviously, this is just some sort of mental masterbation for you to get some sort of twisted jollies from. Too bad, I have been wanting to engage in a discussion like this for awhile. I guess it will wait for someone else that truly wants to discuss this, and not just insult people.
In other words, see ya!

Ad hominems aside...before we answer you, please define your terms by answering these questions:
Why does evil (moral or natural) exist in a closed universe? For that matter why does good exist?
How do you determine what is evil or what is good? Do you have some sort of objective point to reference from or is this merely your opinion that some things are evil and other things are not?

This is more than likely JW urban legend, but I heard that Charles Manson studied with JWs. Also a very good friend of my dad's claimed to have studied with Sirhan Sirhan's mother.

Hmmm... good points. I still think that the Others are playing them all though. Why would they just let Michael go? They hadn't negotiated a trade or anything yet.
I don't think that Michael was captured. At the end of the last new episode, he seemed to imply that he had been watching them, and that he believed they could be taken down.

This is nothing new. I believe that Dogpatch posted something on the Long Beach Arena giving the J-Dubs a sweetheart deal for the use of it in return for below market value repairs. In other words, "brothers" in construction volunteering their time & efforts in return for lower rent.

If the New Testament included only the Gospels.....
by Spectrum in.... what would christianity be like today had the rest of the nt been rejected or turned into apocrypha?
was christ's teaching enough to give momentum to this religion beyond the first christians?
or did christ's teaching need augmenting with pauline doctrines?

Pole,
You have given me a lot to chew on, so I certainly hope that you will give me that time.
I do want to respond, at this time, to one statement:
At the psychological level (and not adoctrinal one) I see no reason for distinguishing between the martyrdom of Christians and the martyrdom of other people who die for their beliefs.
Again, I reiterate, that as a general rule, Islamofascist "martyrs" tend to kill others (mostly innocent) in order to attain their "martyrdom." Compare that to Christian martyrs who, as a general rule, do not kill innocents, in their martyrdom. That is a level of distinction that I, and others, apply to martyrdom. Maybe I "simplistic", and to be quite honest, I am glad that I am, because to make all religious martyrs equal is a level of sophistication that I really find morally reprehensible.

Your are confusing what martyrdom is, in my opinion. I pointed this out, and now you give me some long drawn out lecture about the irrelevance of doctrine. Without the understanding of doctrine you cannot fathom why people choose martyrdom. So either you don't know what martyrdom is defined as or you are deliberatly confusing. The thought on the second paragraph was an attempt to show the isolation of the Apostles. They had no idea what the others were doing or saying, but they all died believing the Jesus rose from the dead, or decieving themselves and the ones that followed them. You took the last sentence out of it's context. Because in context, I was referring to the Apostles. It does not make sense to me that the Apostles would die the deaths they did for something they KNEW was not true. As far as "being in their right mind." If they went to their death believing in the fact of Jesus' death & resurrection then yes, they were. People don't die for a lie, especially when they know it is a lie.

I usually got spanked, and I never had bruises to show it. Once I got into my teens I was usually grounded. Though I did get slapped in the face once by my mom, and another time my dad picked me up and threw my about 10 feet into my bathroom. Both of those times I had really smarted-off to them and I had seriously provoked them.
