What Should the Minimum Wage Be (USA)?

during the gop debates donald trump said that american’s “wages [are] too high” and later said “that having a low minimum wage is not a bad thing for this country” (7:25)..

do you agree and if so why?.

my two cents on this issue; do the math.

I believe you have to look at the minimum wage question like this.

If minimum wage workers are paid more then the work they do has to be passed on to what they produce weather it be grocery produce, clothes, cleaning or factory produce.

Imagine if higher paid workers have to pay a bit more for the above items or services wages are only part of the cost of them.

Countries other than the US do this and are very successful in providing a working wage for all. Just like communism.

There is a problem with this approach in that it will make a country less competitive and some may loose their jobs from lack of exports and an increase of imports. Some economic sectors will not be effected such as the tourist sector because their jobs can't be exported .

There is no point in competing with say China on wages each country should compete on their natural advantage.

I'm not an economist just my thoughts.

this is what europe is becoming?

my work colleague in germany sent my this article in an email and it is perhaps one of the most disturbing things i have heard yet.

i have been hearing about many of these recent homophobic and transphobic hate crimes taking place across europe but this one slipped through the cracks.

Ann Indonesian Imam has written a fatwa saying its OK for a father to lust after his daughter as long as she is 13 years old . the fatwa also declared an engaged couple shouldn't hold hands because other Muslims may stone them for indecency. The website was taken down in a few days because of objections.

I think we would all find these things disturbing but I believe Islam is a different animal than all the others

I think we should ask some questions about Political Islam and that should not be an attack on all Muslims. There are moderate muslims but there is no moderate Islam.

When analysing Islam we have to determine the reasons for their behaviour for some it is because they are just bad people taking advantage of others and committing crimes as any other religious person may. I would suggest that Political Islam has some very difficult problems unique from other religions.

Racism The Arab people have writings the Koran, the 6 Hadiths and the Sira and these writings regard all non Arab peoples to be Inferior.

The treatment of women. The Islamic writings give women no rights in Islamic countries and in those countries if a women is raped the women is then killed. The rapist gets off . We should ask ourselves the question is this what is happening in Europe? Men are not responsibe for rape.

Mohammad approved of rape of prisoners of war and the rape of children remember he married a 6 year old. Mohammad being the perfect example for Muslims to follow is believed by all Muslims just as Christians follow the example of Jesus . This is why we see child brides here is Australia being married to older men and also because Islam believes if they live in a western country they are in the house of non Islam and so at war. Could this be the reason muslims believe they can rape in western countries . Some Imams and even a female Imam have said western women should be raped by muslim immigrant men to be humiliated.

I could go on but this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Any William Miller Scholars out there?

for those who may not be aware, the 1914 date was arrived at by russell by using the same framework of the failed prophetic interpretations of the adventist preacher william miller.

if you look at the top right of the chart, he uses the same 7-times reasoning to arrive at the 2,520 years (7 times=7 multiplied by 360-day years=2,520 years).

Adventists today when calculating the 1844 date use Daniel 8;14 which gives 2300 days converted to years.

The starting point for this calculation is 457 bc which is also the starting date for the prophecy in Daniel 9 which gives the prophecy when Jesus was crucified and Stephen was stoned. There is a verse there somewhere which Adventists use to give the meaning that the time period in Daniel 9 was cut off from the longer period of the 2300 days.

The other interesting point about Millers reasoning is his calculations were made from various parts of the bible to arrive at 1844 and he believed a number of even weak points would strengthen his point of view. A strange concept indeed.

This doctrine is still taught by the right wing SDAs but is almost forgotten by the theologians because it just can't be proven.

if so, they probably won't come forward for a while, then when they do, they'll probably be dragged into the back room for a talk about how the dubs don't gamble, then the winner says he'll donate some, and of course all will be forgiven, then the dub may finally see the hypocrisy of the cult and denounce them on national tv as they hold up that big giant check for all to see!

Islam does infringe on our rights right now. What newspaper anywhere in the world will publish a cartoon of their Islamic prophet ?

The Islamists have their law and they have their punishment and it will be enforced on you where ever you are.

There is no Islam light or moderate Islam. There are only moderate muslims or those that are not practicing.

You're very courageous to come to this site many witnesses just wouldn't do that. I have the utmost respect for your stand in trying to make a difference because what happened in the past is done but from now on things can change and only people like you can make a difference.

You're right no one can say you are apostate for your stand but even the WT lawyer seemed defiant even after all the evidence and rulings of the ARC. The WT lawyer was very much controlled by the dictates of the Society. Many here will be praying for your efforts because one more victim is too many.
