I am a faded JW (nonpractising)
Are there any written statements in their publications about this .
are there any repercussions for a jw if they donate blood.
there is a blood drive at work and i would like to participate.
here's the catch though there is a jw in my depatment, his dad is on the hospital liason thingy.

it's based on a true story about missionaries in south america, good movie.. my gun barrel would have been smokin in the one part, but hey i'm a disgruntled jw..
I never knew there were missionaries in Alabama.
Ya they grow them there.
mega,
why didn't you like it?
btw is there a way to change the location of your topic after you submit it since I should have probably posted this in entertainment.

do any of you remember this... when one subscribed to the awake or watchtower magazines, they would, back in south africa, come in a cardboard roll... kinda like the kitchen roll cardboard thingies... then later they would come folded in half lengthways.
well, where i am going with this is here... it became sort of a status symbol in the congo to have one of these rolled mags and later the folded ones and one would make a point of straightening them out (despite them being underlined to death and well used) to show the fact that you subscribe to the magazines!
did any of you do something similar?
Never had a sub. dad did
You would have marked me, I was the one raising my hand at the witchtower study so as to get a copy.

i used to feel that the prophecy of the seven times ending in 1914 and that the 6,000 years were up in the 20th century was good proof that these are the last days.
but i just started wondering why the wts says the day of rest would be 7000 years and can not find proof for this assertion.
does anyone know why the wts says god would rest for a period of 7000 years?.
a little off topic but why did god need to rest in the first place?
.
why did jesus offer the samaritan woman the right to rule as one of the 144,000 in heaven?
what did she do to deserve it?

someone a month or so ago posted a comment here at jwd about how they were surprised that when elders got together, for instance for dinner or some other non-congregational activity, that they seldom or never talked about the bible or spiritual matters.
(if anyone remembers who made that comment, please let me know!
been trying to find the original thread for hours!).
Rarely did people talk about the bible after the meeting.
I remember bringing up a point after the book study and people looked at me like I was crazy.
My recollection of after meeting talk was that it was totally social.
It was like someone threw a switch and you went from spiritual to fleshly mode.
JW,s are so sick of all the meetings and service they are forced to do, the last thing they want to do is talk more about it.
