one of the main ways the watchtower is able to mislead people is by impressing them that they actually fortold the events of 1914. they point to magazine articles and simply make stuff up in order to 'prove' that years in advance they announced that christ would return in 1914. typical is this quote: why, then, do the nations not realize and accept the approach of this climax of judgment?

it is because they have not heeded the world wide advertising of christs return and his second presence.

since long before world war i jehovahs witnesses pointed to 1914 as the time for this great event to occur.

i just read the topic "i thought i was alone" by newbie elinor.

i found it interesting how he mentioned that he wanted to throw the daniel book "across the room" after reading some of the many misapplied prophecies concocted by the overlord's in brooklyn.

when i was a jw i also fantasized at times of throwing the book across the room, but for me it was the revelation book over ten years ago.

this is a real dread for me as i hate grocery shopping at the best of times.. considering xmas day is on sunday and all the shops here are shut on xmas eve (saturday) and the veggies will be the same stuff today as tomorrow, im wondering if its too early to go today and get it over and done with................but..............it seems a long time to have veg in the fridge.. decisions , decisions................ .

Well I went shopping yesterday, it was quite so I was very pleased. Ive now realized ive forgotten a couple of things I need and im going to have to go again.

Im so fed up. Im sitting here putting it off for as long as I can.

what was the longest bible study you knew of ???.

i knew a couple of pioneer sisters who had studies that lasted about 6 years, maybe they were longer...............they never came to the meetings and when i accompanied a sister on hers.

I knew a couple of pioneer sisters who had studies that lasted about 6 years, maybe they were longer...............they never came to the meetings and when I accompanied a sister on hers. The first hour was chit chat and coffee, the next two comprised of going through 2 paragraphs and more chatting!!

We both counted 3 hours each.................thats 6 hours counted time, where 2 paragraphs were read .................I kid you not

There was a time when we were told after 6 months you had to finish an unproductive study, but that didnt last long.

my mother and i were talking about christmas being in december, and how the christians felt it was truely a victory to have christ jesus birth still celebrated, unlike the pagan sun god that was celebrated by the pagans at the same time.

we got to talking and realized that if you count backwards from when scholars really feel jesus was most likely really born (in september), and count back 280 days of pregnancy, it would actually be late december!!!

could it be that the birthday was from the date of conception, not delivery???

What really gets me is how even the angels celebrated Jesus birth...............but thereon after its wicked to do so ????????

Same goes for JWs..............they have gifts and cards given when their children are born............but never allowed to celebrate it after !!!!!!!!!!

What a stupid fool I was in giving it up for 20 years.

i was thinking last night of alot of the bs i've heard from the platform over the years and i thought of a real doosie and figured i'd post it for you all.

we had our co visit a few months ago.

in his opening talk he was encouraging the stepford congregation by regailing us with experiences from his visit with our sister congregation the week prior.
