Memorial Problem

Hello InTheSpotlight,

As an ex JW of over 30 years who is now a Christian, I have a word of advice.

I see no harm wanting to go and observe how they do their Memorial service. If it will help you have a better understanding of them, then do it.

As a Christian, I would take the emblems because of what they represent.

If you are wanting a ministry of reaching out to Jehovah's Witnesses with the real truth, that is a good goal to have in your heart. However, you would be wasting 99.99% of this time that could be put to use in a more meaningful ministry. There are hundreds of them!

Trying to talk to or convince an active Jehovah's Witness into believing that there is a "crack" in their belief system is a futile undertaking. The only way for a JW to become an ex JW is by their own doubts and investigating them and the entire religion.

But if you plant even one seed, it could grow into something fruitful.

My first Social Security check

i guess i'm officially old.

got my first social security check in the mail and can deposit it tomorrow.

Well folks,

I guess I'm officially old. Got my first Social Security check in the mail and can deposit it tomorrow. My mind doesn't feel like it is 62 years old. Inside I still feel like 30. My main goal/wish is to live a very long and healthy life so I can get all the money I can from what I paid in for most of my life.

I opted to have the first check mailed to me so I can scan it and keep in in my computer as a reminder. From now on, the monthly stipend will be direct deposited. That's the safest way!

Here's wishing all the rest of you seniors and those about to become senior citizens a long, happy and healthy life.

How Have YOU Changed Since Leaving The Witnesses?

It's been almost 10 years since I knew I couldn't be a part of the borg anymore. But it took until 2003 to cleanse my brain of wondering if it really could be the truth. Thirty years of brainwashing doesn't go all away at once. 2003 was the last Memorial I attended and I have been free since.

I feel that I have finally lost my judgemental attitude and no longer want to debate with or allow myself to get angry with others on this forum because I don't agree with what may be an agenda they are looking to push. I now look at it as the way they need to vent and cleanse themselves of the brainwashing they also went through.

I'm happy to say that my daughter is also out of the borg.

Today I'm a Christian and leading a very happy and productive life.

Found a bug in my back yard. Anyone know what it is?

i live in the n. texas area (dfw).. it's about 1/2 inch long..

Seriously.....I used to work for Orkin, but I don't know what that is.

Doesn't look like a tick to me.

I wouldn't worry about it. After all, there are more catalog bugs than we ever thought.

Try looking online at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh. They have one of the largest insect catalogs in the world.

IF YOU STILL READ THE BIBLE WHAT VERSION DO YOU READ??

i have my jw bible but also have the good news bible that was used at the lutheran church i went to for about 8 yrs back in the 80's.. one (jw)is hard to read and understand some of the books and the (good news)other is to easy and leaves somethings out, well the jw one does to.. .

Yes, I still believe in God and attend church regularly.

I have alot to be thankful for

there was a time when i almost picked up that bookbag and bible, headed out the door for the kingdom hall, again, leaving my kids.. i was sure that going to the meetings, studying, field service, good association, was more pleasing to god than my relationship/responsiblity to my children.

none of them were going to be in the truth, so i hardened my heart and little by little, covered up the hurt i felt and kept up the facade.

by the time i got to my last child and only daughter that tried desperately to please me by going to meetings, studying, not saluting the flag a school, no holidays, birthdays, sneaking around to date, until then she never kept anything from me..........i realized i was losing all my children.

I felt the same way in the late 1990's when my daughter started her fade as I know it now.

When she wasn't at meetings, I was pained in my heart even though I was having my own doubts at the time.

Then I woke up and realized my daughter was smarter than I was, and then and there I made up my mind that no organization with it's pharisaical laws would come between me and the only person in this world that I loved.

And we are happy now even though we are 1200 miles apart. We talk every day.

Did you convert to become a JW?

what denomination did you originally belong to before becoming a jehovah's witness?.

i was methodist.

i was horrified when attending my first jw meeting and hearing the simple piano music over the speakers ... compared to the live orchestra performed at the methodist church.

I was a non-practicing Catholic.

My mother became a JW about 1962 and always talked to me about it.

Once I got home from the Army in 1968 I was ready to accept the things from the WTBTS after seeing where the world had gone with Vietnam and the other events of the time.

I met my soon to be wife at a Circuit Assembly at a local high school that they used at the time..... through my mother. (my late wife was the only good thing that happened to me while being a JW........other than my wonderful daughter who is out of the claws of the cult also)

Problem was..........I bought into the mindset, hook, line and sinker! I became an obnoxious JW like so many others. The rest of the world would become bird shit and I gloated over it!

My goodness.......I surely have changed!
