Scooby.............. You've had this WHAT IF problem for quite awhile now........haven't you? Maybe you should FINALLY make a yes or no decission. Hanging in the middle is not good for your emotional and psychological health. This goes for anyone else who has been on this forum for YEARS and still wondering why and what! If you can't make a choice because of family or whatever............you will suffer inside forever.........or until the axe swings. The facts have been laid out here on JWD and many other web sites. I can only hope you get on with your life and a happy one at that. HappyDad

But what if they're right............still the Truth?
by ScoobySnax inthis will probably apply to few here, but to me it'll always be that way.
it's the what if syndrome maybe, but it's always there.
i still think that as a core belief system the jw's have it right, even if their delivery isn't always right.

Therefore, mature, experienced brothers and sisters who have benefited from Bethel training are being assigned to the field where they will be able to contribute much to the preaching and disciple-making work. A number of congregations in the United States branch territory will benefit from their help.
Yeah....RIGHT!
There was another post that said that these "laid off" bethelites would receive about $500.00 per month to get them adjusted to their new life. Hmmmmmmm........how long will that last? And how long will it be until many of the middle aged ones really get fed up trying to find jobs that pay any decent money at all? What about medical insurance? Us older ones are deteriorating and the doctor visits get closer and closer. Without insurance, what will they do? There are only so many hospitals that recognize the Hill-Burton act for non-insured people.
But rest assured.......the borg will really play up the very low percent of laid off ones who get a "fabulous" job because of their years of experience at bethel. They will use this to justify themselves and put the spin out that those who are not able to adjust are not putting their heart into it or trusting in Jehovah enough.
I for one can't wait until some of them start posting here on JWD and voicing their discontent and blowing the whistle on other doings at the JW Mecca.

I particularly like these three paragraphs from that 1970 Awake.
The inability of the
ChurchWT Society to explain its position Scripturally makes evident an important fact: TheCatholic ChurchWT Society has not based its teachings upon what God’s Word says. Rather, it has founded many of its beliefs and practices on the unstable traditions ofmen. Rutherford, Franz, and others of their GB.Thus, many truth-seekers are having their eyes opened to see that the
Catholic ChurchWT Society has not been holding strictly to God’s Word. And they are wondering whether any religion that does not do so is worthy of their confidence and support. But there are other changes that are also disturbing people today.
I'm sure we could come up with a few teachings of the WT Society to take the place of the Catholic tradition of not eating meat.

by Frannie Banannie ini moved back to beaumont to stay with crabby pants.
was in dialup hell for a while because the computer was attached to cp's phone line.
he couldn't stand for me to be online for any length of time because it might have interferred with him getting to scream, cuss and roar at telemarketers and slam the phone down over and over hard enough to break it.

I Got The Phone Call Last Night - My Dad Died

Brenda,
So sorry to hear of your loss. My heart is with you at this time. When things like this happen, I am at a loss of what to say since words are only words. Having been through all of this myself, I like to think that the pain you are going through and have gone through......the anger.......the heartbreak of things either past or present.........is what I feel and what I can understand. I can only send good thoughts your way and hope you get through this the way you get through all other negative happenings......but now knowing you have many like minded souls who invisibly hold your hand and tell you it will be ok.

Were you a bathroom breaker?
by Mysterious ini swear my mother used to keep better track of my bladder than i did.
she'd sit me down occasionally for talks such as "i noticed you've been going to the bathroom a lot during the meetings lately maybe we need to cut down on what you drink on meeting nights" etc.
others would go 2 or 3 times a meeting and if i went twice a week i'd get a talk about it!

does anyone remember the servants, elders and MS, loitering in the back of the hall during the meeting? I remember a couple of guys who would lean against the literature counter, wander over to the information board
That was me when I was a MS and then became an elder. Hey.......just because one might be an MS or elder doesn't mean that the meetings still aren't boring.

I love my saturdays......
by freedomlover ini woke up this morning and made coffee and we are planning on eating a big breakfast and then doing a hike to a waterfall where we can play in the water and pick wild blueberries.
it got me thinking how wonderful it is to have my weekends to myself now.
when i was a dub i would skip out on service a lot but the whole day was ruined for me because i'd feel guilty for not going out in service.

Absolutly!!!!!!!!!!
It is just great doing life enhancing "things". Wild blueberries? I bet they are good! Let us know how the hike turned out.
I had breakfast at a really good restaurant with 9 others from my Ham Radio Club and after that drove to a RC model airplane show. These guys were flying Giant Scale planes. One had a wingspan of 14 feet. What a fun day!
