I would love to take my Trek and all the traveling accessories and join you on this ride.....but........since I'm working a contract job with no end in sight, I have to pass.
However, I would like for you to take a look at this site...........

I met this family as they passed through my area in June and spent the weekend at our Amateur Radio Field Day site.
What a great thing to do!

Has anyone here made their own beef jerky? Can you give me tips?
by UnConfused inthanks in advance

I've made beef jerky several times in my Excalibur dehydrator. Any good meat will due as long as it is on sale. English roast, Chuck roast, Sirloin roast......you get the picture?
First thing to do if you do not have a slicer is to put it in the freezer for a while for it to set up some. This makes it easier to slice with a knife. I've found that the Excalibur's instructions on the thickness is the best. Slice it as close to 3/16th of an inch as possible. Some people want it super thin but remember that once it is dried out it can be too brittle if it is too thin. You want it chewy!
As for recipes......there are so many that you might want to try a different one every time you make it. All I did was put the slices in Terriake sauce for a short time and then dehydrate it according to the book time.
If you Google "beef jerky recipes" you will be overwhelmed with what you can do. There are many, many recipes for making it in the oven, so you don't even need a dehydrator.
Just a side note without hijacking your thread. For those with an over-abundance of green beans in their garden and don't want to can or freeze the beans, they can be dehydrated very easy and re-constituted when needed.
Good luck and keep us posted with your results.

I used to be 100% against any logical explanation of this subject.
Yeah.......old men over 60 have a hard time with new scientific findings! Some of the old JW blinders type of thinking takes precedence. Then I started reading more and more.
Then I find that people close to me and my daughter who live 1200 miles away have a son who is pre-teen and has all the tendencies.....or earmarks........whatever you call them.....that are extremely feminine. The kid is one hell of a loveable person. All of his tendencies and mannerisms are feminine and he doesn't want to be with other boys. He loves dolls and loves to dress up as a girl.
What I'm trying to say is.......I am now slowly being awakened by "lifes experiences" to things I never accepted before. Please be patient with this old man.
There are physical/biological tendencies that are beyond what I understand. Who knows what kind of mutations happen in this arena. Mutations happen all the time in the arena that we don't give a second thought about, but when it comes to gender........there are people like me who might speak before putting brain in gear.
Hopefully, the scientific/medical field will make some discoveries as to what is going on.
In the meantime......I will still love this kid no matter what. I'll never tell him he is wrong. As far as he is concerned.......he is ok. Who am I to say otherwise?
I believe in God to my very last breath......and everything that I don't understand and the things that I can't control are in his hands.

Roy Orbison was definitely one of the best. He had what singers call a "pure" voice.....somewhat like EmmyLou Harris.

You don't have any rights here.
by yesidid inyou don't have any rights here.
you cannot do as you see fit - simon can.
you are just a poster on a free web site and simon is your host.
-
HappyDad
Not having any rights here as this topic is suggesting is totally absurd.
If you follow the guidelines that you were "supposed" to read, you can post on just about anything with your own opinion.
If the violating posters can't understand simple rules, then go somewhere where your type of conversation is tolerated. JWD has helped a lot of people get out and stay out of the borg. It's a place of mutual experiences.
The way some of the posts go, anyone with the slightest iota of doubt about their JW life just might shy away from this forum because of the conversation of a few degenerates. Now before anyone sends me anymore nasty PM's as I got from my last "voice" on this, I'm not talking about you being gay. I'm talking about your constant inuendos about your lifestyle.
Ok......you don't like that I don't like hearing about sexual conquests. I'm sure the gays will be the first to flame me once again. I have the PM's to prove it. But I'm also talking about the straight people who must reassure themselves by talking about their conquests also. You know what they say.....the person who has to always brag about what they are getting are the ones not getting at all.
By the way! Please don't challenge me to show the posts as proof. If you read JWD often enough, you know what they are, or you're totally lost.
I give Simon a lot of credit. If I had the power, I'd delete any and every topic dealing with so-called x-rated subject material. The originators would also be deleted. And there would still be thousands of posts that make real sense on this forum. There are other forums that love that kind of stuff. They have nothing helpful or upbuilding to give XJW any good advice at all.
Oh......if I do get any PM's.........I just get rid of them without reading them after the last batch.
Have a great life........if you can.

It is only a matter of time before one of them learns the "truth" and comes to JWD.............or to say it better..........only a matter of time before one of them comes to JWD and learns the "truth".

OK,
HappyDad is at a loss with this one. But I have to say that Terry put it better than any explanation I've heard since the 1960's.
Terry, you are finally making me think for a change.

I Received The Holy Spirit!
by Maddie ini want to share with you all a most wonderful experience i have just had.
i have been going to a christian church called the vineyard.
they have a live band and lots of singing goes on there.

Thanks for sharing Maddie,
I've also had that experience. I've also had a healing that the skeptics can ridicule all they want. But the people who know me and who knew of my infirmity know that it was for real.
Today, I no longer have that infirmity. I'm able to jump, climb ladders and dance. For sometime before this healing happened, I was a semi-invalid.
Not anymore thanks to God.
Go ahead skeptics and whatever you are today.........make fun.......ridicule........say that God is an a** like many posters here say these days. I know what happened to me and I will continue to worship God......not the WT.
