This is the DEFINITIVE PROOF that Kingdom Halls in Chile display the flag. A brave person went inside the Kingdom Hall while the meeting was happening and took video of the flag being displayed inside the Kingdom Hall property. Then, at least two Witnesses try to explain to the person why they display the flag, saying, essentially, "it's the law".
This video was taken while it was still light out, the flag is CLEARLY VISIBLE, and we even get an explanation from witnesses.

When you think about it is it such a big deal ? According to Rom.13 ,Christians are to be in subjection to the superior authorities ,the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God.
That's one way of looking at it. But, for the Watchtower, putting up the flag in the Kingdom Hall is absolutely wrong according to their own standards. Here's why:
And displaying a flag should no more be a problem than standing for a judge in a court of law .
Its just a matter of showing respect for the office in question.

The flag is considered to be an idol.
Would the witnesses accept to "just place" or "just display" a Virgin Mary statue in the Kingdom Hall if it was a law? Wouldn't every single witness say it's definitely a case of "obeying God rather than men", and would be glad to pay the fine? -

during this period, they have endured a lot of suffering and hardship.. somehow, they managed to escape from their captors.. guy a was very happy that he regained his freedom.
he put everything behind him, work hard and succeeded in building up a career.. 10 years later, he met guy b. he asked guy b what he has been doing for the past 10 years.. guy b replied :" i can't forget how we suffered while in bondage.

There is nothing wrong with being guy A. I am perfectly happy if most people who free themselves from the Watchtower end up being guy A, in fact.
Don't be Guy B of the first parable... that's wrong. Holding on to grudges and stuff for many years can hurt you.
But you can be Guy B from the second one without being Guy B from the first one... Be an activist but have your own life.
Now, let's all get together and have a beer and some barbecue ;)

Somehow, they managed to escape from their captors.
Guy A was very happy that he regained his freedom. He put everything behind him, work hard and succeeded in building up a career.
10 years later, he met guy B. He asked guy B what he has been doing for the past 10 years.
Guy B said: I've been helping others escape their captors. Although this means I have to be close to my former captors, it gives me immense pleasure to know that I have freed over 100 more people!
Guy A and Guy B then went for a beer, happy they were both out and had used their lives well.

I think the GB instructed the Chilean congregations to go ahead and fly the flag because they were not going to pay the $400 dollar fine as of course the Chilean congregations don't have that kind of money each year.
The congregations are instructed to decide if they want to put up the flag or not. About 10 years ago, most congregations put up the flag. Now it's getting rarer for congregations to put the flag, because of tremendously bad PR now that people are taking videos and pictures of this. Unfortunately, the fine is almost never enforced... so the KH's can get away with not putting the flag AND not paying the fine... if they wanted to. -
