After reading this, I promptly went through my house and removed all pretzels. A special effort was even made to locate pretzels that had dropped between the cushions in my couches, so as to rid my house of this demonic snack food.

Should witnesses eat evil pretzels?
by Plummet ini was looking up recipes for the breadmaker when i came across this.as early as 610 ad at a monastery somewhere in southern france or northern italy, monks used scraps of dough and formed them into strips to represent a child's arms folded in prayer.
the three empty holes represented the christian trinity.
it has bee said they were used as rewards when the child memorized their prayers right.. .

Witnesses cannot refute the real "TRUTH"
by integ inno matter what any pompass ass witness says about the religion being the "truth", they cannot refute the simple fact that nothing they have ever predicted has come true.
that's a pretty poor record for gods' chosen people.
oh sure they can point to lame obvious things such as " critical times getting harder to deal with" (even that is debatable), but no hard facts to point to that show they are right, or have ever been.

Dude....you seriously think the United Nations is the same thing as the League of Nations??!!??
I think you should check out a history book or 2...the JWs are the only organization on the face of the earth that even remotely connects the 2 organizations, beyond superficial appearances.
You're joking right? If not, then you might want to revisit the history books. After the Germans signed the Armistice in November 1918, Woodrow Wilson went to Paris to try to establish some peace. Right after that, he presented to the Senate the Versailles Treaty, containing the Covenant of the "League of Nations". It was there that he made his legendary quote: "Dare we reject it and break the heart of the world?"

Is your computer fan noisy when it gets warm ?
by JH in.
i have a pentium 4 3 ghz and the fan isn't too noisy when it's below 75 degrees f, but when it's 85 in this room ,like now, my computer sounds like a hair dryer.. anybody else has this slight problem?
-

Well, JH you can just adjust the temperature at which the fan and alarm respond. When the fan speeds up and makes a lot of noise, it's because the PC has reached the temperature at which it is set to come on.

Might want to go into your BIOS settings while re-booting and adjust your fan/thermostat settings.

Social Hypocrisy vs. Doctrinal Hypocrisy
by Theocrat ini think you'll find the social kind in every church, club, or organization on earth.
you know...it's the kind where people try to project themselves to be something that they really don't live up to when nobody is looking.
kinda like sunday angels and monday devils.

But the doctrinal hypocrisy within the WTS is confounding, and I think is going to be judged MUCH more seriously by God when the time comes. For example, Witnesses are told to expose false teachings in their ministry. Challenge "householders" to question their clergy, re-examine their beliefs, and upon putting their religion to the test, if there is any hint of false teaching found or any trace of an unscriptural practice within their religion, they are to quicly dismiss that it must be false religion, and part of Satan's wicked system.
What if Jehovah's Witnesses were to hold themselves to the same process? Well first of all, they are forbidden to do so. Secondly, the unscriptural teachings that you would find just from looking at the last 80 year history of the organization would be all the proof that one needs. But then we have the WTS quickly dismissing these things as "refinements" and the recieving of "new light" on the subject. Is that supposed to make it ok to teach unscriptural things? How come other religious groups can't claim it?
Yes, it's true, like the Proverb says, "the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established". But does that scripture alone clear the WTS for decades of unscriptural teachings? The Apostle Peter said "we have the prophetic word made more sure". God's Holy Spirit gives us that surety, not a century of misguided teachings.

For All Who Are Going to the Convention This Year
by drew sagan infor most of us who are going to the 'delieverance at hand' district convention we want to be low on the radar.
but wouldn't it be terrible if we missed out meeting someone else from the board while we attended the same convention?
listing what convention your going to might be to much of a give away for some people, but i really don't care.

just2sheep,
Wow you are a bitter person, and you read a lot more into things than are actually said. I never said I was like Danny in every way. I just mentioned that I, like him, have nothing to lose by being on this board.
Where am I protesting this week? Pretty weak passive-aggression. Protesting and wearing placard-boards is hardly an intelligent way to fight a monster like the WTS.
Why don't I post all my personal information? Well if you must know, let's just say that I'm not an average citizen. I have a position in the limelight and posting all such information wouldn't be very beneficial for me. I'm not trying to tout who I am or "toot my own horn", but that's the way it is.
Can your sardonic mentality grasp that?

i'm sorry but i missed where you posted your real name, picture, home congregation, or any other identifying information. could you point out where i might find these? for someone with no fear you are certainly well hidden. being a danny haszard wannabe does not make you a danny haszard. if you will provide the above information i'm sure someone will be willing to take you up on your welcome. but you don't have to wait for someone else to do it, just identify yourself as theocrat on jwd to your po.
You missed a lot more than that.I don't have a congregation. I don't have a P.O.
And obviously I'm not a Danny-wannabe. I was just pointing out that there are 2 kinds of people on these forums: those with a lot to lose and those with nothing to lose. If you weren't so intent on slinging insults around, you might pick up on these little things instead of misunderstanding me to be your enemy or something.

as a jw..did you ever have a REAL theological discussion with anyone?
by candidlynuts inthis came up in a conversation with a non witness friend lately.
he said its like i thought i was having theological discussions all the time but from what he could tell...i would go to the door with prearranged comments, which would illicit one of a few comments and my response would be as programmed as the initial comments.
i'm no brainy person.. and freely admit i'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.

When I was a JW, conducted lots of Bible studies, and as a Ministerial Servant with the duties of an Elder, a lot of people came to me for help. Even then, I knew that the WTS was structured too much like a cult and I didn't agree with their urging everybody to study study study NOT THE BIBLE, BUT THEIR LITERATURE. So in my studies with people, and even in field service, I most always took ONLY my Bible with me. When I talked to somebody, it was with the genuine purpose to help them see what the Bible says about things, and that it's the only book with answers to all of life's questions.
I've always been well versed in scripture as I have been studying intensely since I was a teenager and I covertly got my degree in New Testament Greek while in good standing in the congregation. You would be surprised at how much more effective I was one-on-one and in field service when I made the Bible and IT'S message of salvation the focal point of my conversations. I always thought to myself, "If this is how Witnesses went door to door, we would be sooo much more productive."
I miss those deep theological conversations, though.
