LOL. Classic apocolyptic garbage. Always good for a laugh. Any sane, non-brainwashed person can see that.

my wife went to the convention yesterday and brought back the new book for children 'learn from the great teacher'.. it's certainly much better than the old pink book, larger and more colourful, even if the pictures have a 1950's feel to them.
the introduction mentions that there are questions throughout the book that you should ask children to find out what is on their mind... saying ' true, the child may come out with with answers that are not correct.
but the printed material that follows each question is designed to help the child to develop wholesome patterns of thinking'.... 'wholesome patterns of thinking' eh?

i've never put a cigarette or any thing similar to my lips.
i've never had the desire.
Yes. Pipe, cigars and cigs. All excellent.

this is in reference to the comments that kgb made on the thread i started yesterday about the molester who was crushed underneath a car.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/54218/1.ashx.
he talked of forgiveness of murderers, molesters, rapists, etc.
i know that many churchgoes feel the same way about this.. my question is, if god can forgive murderers, rapists, etc., then what about those who don't believe in god, who don't have 'faith'?
Therefore, an athiest who went through life doing God’s will would be God’s agent whether he acknowledged Him or not.
Still, I think you could ask any person what their theology was, and that was, if you don't believe in God, he will judge you. I thought that was the standard line in churches.
Consider, Ash, that you have pre-judged all those church-goers by their outward appearance. Each one of them is unique before God, and a friendly sit-down would reveal wonderful things about each one of them.
I do believe that. Still, would they be judging me for not believing in God?
Anyway, I think the forgiveness issue gets taken out of context. I don't see anywhere in the bible that says to forgive all sin outright. There have always been rules of decency, and laws based on morality. I don't think we as Christians have to forgive child molesters, Let God be their judge, after they recieve their just punishment here and now.
Agreed.
I am thinking that he looks more at our history, our experiences and our attitude when we do what we do.
If I did believe in God, I would expect that this would be my opinion as well.

My question is, If God can forgive murderers, rapists, etc., then what about those who don't believe in God, who don't have 'faith'? Why would such a forgiving God judge those who live good lives, treat their families, neighbors, friends and workmates with respect, work hard and die a good person, why would God choose to judge these men in the same light as those aforementioned criminals?
I'll tell you; this morning, I watched people of all ages leave my apartment complex going to church. Muslims, jews, catholics, the old couple dressed to the nines, all of them slowly driving to their churches, while I sat on my porchstep, drinking a coffe and smoking a ciggarette, watching the birds eat worms and rabbits eat grass.
I know that these same people with their pretty clothes and quiet demeanor, can at times do horrific things. Still, I bet you they would judge me in a minute for not believing in God. Secure in their 'faith', they would say to themselves, "Well, that poor sinner (me) is going right to hell, or his eternal death, or will be reincarnated as a snail, for his faithlessness."
Who's to say that God judges us by our faith and not by our actions (I say this hypotheically, being an athiest). Can a person live their whole lives as a 'faithless one' and still be counted righteous by God, even if he is mired in his own disbelief? Is God really able to put terrible sinners above those with no faith?

Mr. Bloom is a pompous ass. I do recommend the Narnia chronicles, though -- they were in my youth amazing books to read.Dedalus
Absolutely. I think that the Potter books are nice, but the Narnia Chronicles (which I've read umpteen times), are my favorites. There's something so much deeper than just a story, when it comes to the Narnia books.
My favorite: Between Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Last Battle. I just love the ending of the Narnia Chronicles.

child sex beast crushed
by robin perrie a child molester has been crushed to death under his own car sparking celebrations among his neighbours.
paedophile george nicholson, 63, had convictions for sex attacks on a string of boys as young as nine and was loathed by everyone living near him.
Baloney. I know that's what some Christians believe, but that isn't true. First of all you must repent, and part of repentence is restitution, trying to right a wrong. You can return or repay the lolipop, but it is very difficult, if not impossible to restore a child's innocence or sanity. I think it is a mockery of God's justice/mercy to say they are both the same in his eyes.
Good explanation.
I've always thought that, if there was a God, that he was more like the average joe than some unapproachable, wonderous intelligence. I think he can forgive any man who hates someone who rapes the innocence out of a child. Then again, I don't actually believe in God, so that helps a bit I think.
KGB, no offense meant. I can see where you're coming from.

THE LUCKIEST MAN IN THE WORLD
Jun 18 2003 | |
From Allan Hall In Berlin |
HE thought he was the world's most jinxed man but Frane Selak can finally smile. After cheating death an amazing SEVEN times in a string of train, plane and road crashes and surviving four marriages Frane, 74, has won £600,000 on the lottery. Now he plans to celebrate by marrying his 54-year-old girlfriend. Smiling in joy, the man who turned out to be the world's luckiest said yesterday: "At last the demons have gone and the devil has moved on to torment someone else. "I suppose my marriages were disasters, too. I feel like my life is just beginning." Croatian Frane first realised the gremlins were out to get him in 1962 when a Dubrovnik-bound train he was travelling on jumped the rails and plunged into an icy river. Seventeen people drowned. Shocked and bruised, Frane swam to safety. He was taken to hospital with hypothermia. Recalling his grim struggle in the freezing water, the former music teacher said: "I prayed to God then. A man who doesn't believe in God has no life." A year later he received a message that his mother was seriously ill. Desperate to save time, Frane managed to talk a stewardess into letting him sit with her at the back of a full plane flying from Zagreb to Rijeka. He said: "One minute, we were drinking tea. The next, the rear door was ripped open and the poor girl was sucked into mid-air - swiftly followed by me." The stewardess, 17 passengers and both pilots died when the plane hurtled to the ground. But Frane, from Pepinja, survived with cuts after being hurled into a haystack. Three years later, in 1966, a bus he was travelling on in Split careered into a river, killing four. Typically, Frane swam to safety. More cuts, more bruises, more shock...but still alive. He said: "By now, my friends had stopped coming round. Too much bad karma." After this catalogue of disasters it was no surprise to Frane when his Skoda caught fire as he drove along a motorway in 1970. He jumped out seconds before the fuel tank exploded. Three years later he lost his hair when a faulty fuel pump spewed petrol over the hot engine of his Wartburg car, blowing flames through the air vents. More than 20 years went by without incident and Frane dared to think he had beaten his jinx. Then eight years ago he was knocked down by a bus in Zagreb, sustaining minor injuries. The following year he was driving a second Skoda in the Croatian mountains when a UN truck headed straight for him. Frane steered to the right, smashed through a barrier and plunged down the mountainside. At the last minute he forced open a door and landed in trees as his car exploded 300ft beneath him. Then the gods who had tested the old survivor for so long finally smiled on him. This week, two days after his 74th birthday, Frane learned he had won £600,000. His lottery numbers were made up of 19, 48, and 34 from his mobile phone, 38 in memory of most of those who did not survive his crashes, 14 for the one marriage he is about to have and the four he has already had and 20 because his girlfriend is 20 years his junior. Frane is buying a house, new car and a speedboat. He said: "Now it's the good times from here on. There's no looking back. Life is sweet." |
