Thanks for the kinds words, both of you. Yeah, she's been through hell. She managed to keep her sense of humor through it all and was fun to talk to despite heavy subject matter.

I don't do on camera interviews on purpose. For one, it takes greater bandwidth and can degrade the quality of the audio, which isn't good for a podcast.

More importantly though, I actually did a couple on video at first and I feel like people are more vulnerable without being seen. They're still in their little bubble, nobody can see if they get emotional, and I think it feels safer for them. Or maybe I'm just projecting my own feelings, but I digress.

I am definitely more comfortable in front of the camera than I ever thought I'd be. Still it isn't easy and I have to be in the right mood to do it.

This kind of dialog exists on both sides. Yes, the right just called the left crybabies and whiners, but the left instantly jumps to terms like racists and sexists or at-right to make their points. I liked the left when I first left the dubs 3 years ago, but with a lot of friends on the left and watching the left leaning media I simply can't stand the whining anymore. Yeah, it's a right, but that doesn't make it look any better. I hate both sides and have zero interest in either of them. When Obama was president the right whined like babies. Now it's the left.

I do agree that it's time for people to grow up across all sides. People are becoming more polarized and it's pathetic. At this point people, the left because they lost and are desperate, just make things up to get offended about. They are sensitive on a level that is so emotionally driven and much like a tantrum.

Anyone Tried "Sous Vide" Cooking?

i like a nice steak but cooking one can be a little intimidating and the results hit and miss especially when it comes to getting the right temperature so getting it wrong can be an expensive mistake.

can anyone do that "finger and thumb together to check the doneness" thing?

i can't .... so i came across this cooking technique called "sous vide" which cooks food (in a sealed vacuum bag) in a warm water bath, even steak.

I hate cooking. My wife hates cooking. We use the slow cooler for easy meals. This sounds easy and I'm intrigued. The pics look great!

guys, i've always wondered about this ,.

all the money grab,selling, consolidation of kh, real estate scam , who is the one who benefits from this elaborate scam, what's the deal ?

who is the mastermind, do the gb or whoever really runs the show really believe what they sell.

I've wondered who or what is behind it. Someone is getting some money. The morons at the top aren't smart enough to produce some of the spin and the new rebranding efforts over the past years. There has to be someone else running it and the Elite Eight are just figureheads. I'm sure they believe their own bull, and I've never been one for conspiracy theories or anything, but there has to be someone else pulling some strings there that benefits. I once thought they were just captives of a concept themselves, but there are too many lies that have to be deliberate and the new marketing efforts and such are beyond ol' rubberface and tight pants.

Funeral/Memorial at the Kingdom Hall ... Would you go?

let's say an aunt or uncle dies.

.

let's say you barely knew them.. let's say their memorial service was held at the kingdom hall.. let's say if you attend, you have to deal with shunning from family and jws, and you are forced listen to them present their paradise promotional materials, and the dead person's "earthly hope™", and let's face it ... the heeby-jeebies of having to be in a kingdom hall again.. would you put yourself through it?

No.

My dad died 6 months after we disassociated. While it hurt not to even be invited to his memorial, though my mom called to see if my name and my wife's could be used in the talk as who he was survived by, I don't think I would have gone anyway. I could maybe go into a random KH for a meeting out of morbid curiosity, but not somewhere where I had to be shunned and people knew me. Nope, not going to subject myself to that.
