The first thing that tipped me off to their true motives was the quotes that were blatantly manipulated to fit their narratives in articles. That made me finally stop seeing the organization as merely sincere people that were victims of their own hype.

Then stuff like this happens. Or they fight by reacting information in a ridiculous manner like in the San Diego Court case. Or articles like this come out. You see more and more that the man behind the curtain has a monster within. I've heard stories about people on the governing body that lead me to think that they're exactly what they portray. Crazy, mentally ill, delusional, heartless manipulative bastards at times.

So much abuse goes on. It's horrific. I have podcasts coming up with examples, one that I knew personally, of the organization doing anything to shut these accusers down. People write me all kinds of things, things that I can't report because they aren't those people's stories to tell, but not much shocks me anymore. It's still so heartbreaking to hear though.

Fuck that rubber faced wacko and his cult and the lives they allow to be wrecked with zero help given.

Anyone think Assemblies will stop?

not completely but the expensive renting of halls or assembly hall ownership.

maybe with streaming they could have assemblies at the kh and stream the program.

i bet they cut costs in a lot of ways.

Yep, they're a big money maker. No reason to stop. Plus, it's this special spiritual recharge where people see their friends and get a grasp of something bigger than just themselves. Oh, and by "special spiritual recharge" I mean they bring out the big guns, the big manipulation, and use it to reinforce what goes on every day to lock their members down.

the leaked financial dept videos that have done the rounds, clearly show the society is in desperate trouble financially.. so, where is the "almighty's hand"?

Reg Pioneers went down around 50,000 ?

yesterday's wt study (june 17) said: .

records show that in the last five years, the average number of regular pioneers has grown to over 1,100,000 and more than a quarter of a million worldwide have been added to the ranks of full-time preachers.. well, in 2013 they had an average of 950,022 pioneers, and in 2017 they had 1,249,946. looks like they lost some!.

also, the quarter million was a lot of turnover, which... wait for it... any thinking person would know!.

Our own "Russia" style letter writing campaign to request our private data!?!? Please share

we all know of the tactic employed by the society to flood the russian govt with the mass letter writing campaign.

no doubt, one of their aims was to send a clear message of the governing body's views to the russian authorities.. what can't we all do the same to the governing body?.

with the advent of ever tightening data privacy laws occurring in many countries around the world, we now have a valid and legitimate reason to write the society!

Something you might be able to do if a large scale effort doesn't take off is to research and create a document that helps people understand the process and who to contact and what countries it's applicable to. You could reach out to people with a following and put it up on sites like this and reddit as a first step. That would probably be super helpful. Many find this stuff confusing or don't know their rights. I'm all for keeping HQ busy with stuff like this.

I love the idea, but getting exjws to participate in a coordinated effort is much harder than getting brainwashed masses to do so. I've had a number of ideas, but heck, I couldn't even get my local exjws to join me on my first Shunniversary. They all backed out but one childhood friend.

The number of people that are actually active in the community I think might be quite small. Most of the exjws I personally know, okay all of them, do no activism, aren't on any forums, just disavow it all.

Love the idea. I've though it would be cool if all of the shunned ones out here picked a meeting and we all just showed up to it all over. No signs or anything disruptive other than our presence, to signify that we're all still here. Executing this stuff is a whole other ballgame.

I'd love to see you get momentum and don't mean to be a downer, but I just want you to have a view of what you're up against. Like herding cats. (DOC beat me to it!)

On this Fathers Day...

i have never really spoken on social media about my jw family shunning me.

i didnt even discuss or answer any questions about why they didnt come to my wedding, my birthday parties, why there are never any pics of them with me/us together.

until today.... today i woke up and had this insane desire to be open.

Well done babygirl! I'm sorry that you had to have that happen to you for you to speak up about in the first place, but this stuff should be exposed at every chance. They hope we'll all just walk away with our heads down and never expose them for what they are. Take that power back and people will listen. People do care, and not just us as exjws, but people in general don't know about what they do in destroying families. You just did that for someone in all likelihood, you gave them the gift of knowledge. Good for you!

Thanks Scratchme! That means a lot. I'm doing a lot of work right now to get these things on Youtube so that more people can find the stories, whether they listen there or go on to find my podcast and subscribe. I don't care how people listen, I just want them to listen if it's something that would help them. I've got plans do do more and more over time to reach a broader audience.

It was a good movie, though I agree with Whynot's post above. Those "guidance meetings" don't seem to exist for most. They don't truly care that much. There also wasn't enough apostasy in the movie, but honestly I like it like it was. I just don't think the title was fitting. I don't know, then again JWs see even that little bit of difference as apostasy.

Dang Magnum, sorry you've been in such a tough situation. I hope that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. We were certainly limited in the employment department through our cult upbringing.

At least podcasts are free. They do take time though. I hope things are looking up.
