Lol @stuckinarut! I'm all set for the apostate convention. I have lots of experience with giving experiences. Should I embellish it to say that I actually inherited millions and set all of the JWs in my former life free too? I mean really, what I said in the original post isn't enough. Surely we can fluff it up to be "more encouraging" to our brothers and sisters here.

You won't believe this ... Jehovah's rich blessing has befallen me !!!
by dubstepped inmy dad died a couple years back (not how you thought this would start, i know).
he was an elder, and a very emotionally abusive father, well before the point where he ever shunned me.
he died pretty much penniless, and never would buy life insurance or anything.

Thanks CAA! Yep, that's me. I'm the fearful leader of the podcast. Glad you like it!
Oh, I'm also the subject of This JW Life. That was my first podcast.

My dad died a couple years back (not how you thought this would start, I know). He was an elder, and a very emotionally abusive father, well before the point where he ever shunned me. He died pretty much penniless, and never would buy life insurance or anything. Flat out refused. He and my mom got an inheritance when my grandparents died but squandered it. At the end they lived in a trailer park and at a point I drove by after his death and even the trailer was gone. Mom moved to some sort of low rent apartments where a bunch of JWs live (imagine that).
Anyway, apparently my mom sued the facility where dad was before he died. I don't know all of the details, but she sued for wrongful death/injury and won. My dad was in terrible health and chose to go off dialysis and to die, so I don't know how that all went down, but the bottom line is she won some money.
Just this week I posted a podcast up asking for donations to help me get episodes transcribed for my "shunned" podcast so that I can reach more people. I not only need monthly donors to help keep up with the cost of new episodes that need to be transcribed, but also have a back catalog of episodes that need to be transcribed and will require a small chunk of change in the amount of $300+.
Well, apparently in my mom's settlement it must have been mandated that the kids get something otherwise my ass probably wouldn't get a penny. Guess who just got a check today (not a large one at all, but a check nonetheless) and can now afford to transcribe the back episodes of the "shunned" podcast. I still need help with the ones that come up, but I can splurge on these back episodes. Hehehehehehehe............ :)
Ask Jehovah and ye' shall receive, bitches! Lol! Thank you Jehovah for your rich blessings. I can now get my apostate podcasts transcribed. Thanks dad! It's the best thing you ever gave me. The timing here is irrefutable proof that if you ask for what you need, the universe provides. ;)

Has the Governing Body ever been right?
by Jules Saturn ini asked this question to a relative after mentioning several situations where teachings were changed or readjusted (new light) and they have two reasons.
yes, they are correct because look at how the preaching work has grown through the decades and the advancements in witnessing and the second reason was the doctrine of the trinity and how the society opposes that.
i didn’t really have a response, especially for the trinity doctrine.. does the governing body have the rejection of the trinity belief correct?.

@humbled - Being young and growing up JW is the worst. I actually wasn't technically born in, but I was about 8-9 when my mom became a JW and my dad the year after. I'd say that might be even worse than technically being born in. To have to give up so much, family, holidays, friends, etc. at such a young age for such a raw deal may be worse than being truly born in. I don't know, comparing is hard, but it sucked to lose so much so young in exchange for becoming an outcast with even less going for me. Growing up JW sucks no matter how you cut it.

I was talking about it with Joho through email and she made a great point about how the cult triggers depression in young people. I've kind of forgotten how rough it can be when you're young. A developing teen with new urges and thoughts is condemned at every meeting for everything he or she is or is becoming. Those next years are fraught with every type of "spiritual" peril and the person facing them all is just a kid. My parents never had to face any of that, and neither did my wife's, as they came in as adults.
I'm glad that people still get to see the cult for the soul destroying thing that it is even if I'm not completely on board with all of the ideas presented. I like that point you made.

Why Do People Oppose Jehovah's Witnesses?
by BlackSpirit injesus christ, the son of the most high god, jehovah has this to say: "if the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.
if you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own.
now because you are no part of the world, but i have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.

Disclaimer: I don't cook.
With that said, what if you bought him something like an Instapot or another trendy cooking dealio and made him something with it or even a few somethings and taught him how to cook a few easy homemade things with it.
If you have a store nearby that sells gadgety cooking things, take him there and teach him what things are, maybe prepare something ahead of time to help him see the engineering in the latest kitchen doohickeys. You can tell I know about this, lol. Stop me if I get too technical. Maybe you can foster an interest in cooking but from an engineer's perspective.
Show a man how to cook, cook a nice but easy meal using his new gadgets for the kitchen, then eat while watching Star Trek on a new DVD that's been remastered or has bonus stuff on it.

I like cool wallets, knives, watches, even flashlights, as a gadget guy myself. I also love buying gifts for people and the response has been good. I hate that the cult took so much away from me there. Anyway, I'm heading out the door but can probably get you specific ideas. Pm me his Facebook if he has one and let me poke around and maybe I can get a better feel for the guy, if you're okay with that. I'm not a creepy stalker, I promise. At least let me know what he likes to do, if he's a fan of anyone or anything in particular. Specifics help.
