@Listener - My goal is to bring in the stories of other people that are shunned as well. I have one interview with a former Mennonite and one with a former FLDS member. I'd like to branch out to some more as well, but I always want the core to be our ex-JW community. I want to show that we aren't alone in feeling the effects of shunning, and to show that we really aren't such disparate groups of shunned people but rather one big group that has been cast aside by various groups. At the same time I want to get our stories told because we are likely among the largest section of those that are shunned. I mean, I can't think of any other religion (maybe Islam, don't they shun?), that has the size and practices shunning that JWs do. Our stories aren't often told, and they need to be.

Our very own pale.emperor on the "shunned" podcast.......
by dubstepped inwell, i offered in one of his threads to have him on the show and posters seemed excited at the possibility and we got it done so now you can hear from the man himself on the newest episode of "shunned".
one of our very own stepped up to tell his story, well, aside from myself of course.
it was great getting to actually speak with him.. this is my first international interview for the podcast.

@steve2 - Yeah, if you're not a podcast person, it can seem daunting, but I'll give you an easy way and the more complicated way (that opens up a host of possibilities for you) below.
The easy way to listen is to go here:
http://shunnedpodcast.com/episode-12-mark-is-shunned-by-jehovahs-witnesses/
Just click play on the player. That's just as easy as Youtube. That's a direct link to pale.emperor's episode.
Like I said in the original post, you can go to http://shunnedpodcast.com/episodes/ and all of them are right there with a player. Again, just click play and listen to any of them. The more complicated way, but the way that people typically listen to podcast, is to get a podcast app. The biggies are Apple and Google, but I use Podbean, and my wife uses Podcast Republic (actually probably my favorite). You download the app, search for podcasts (in my case you'd search for shunned), and then click subscribe. Download the ones you want to listen to, and from then on any new ones will automatically download to your device.
If you do this a whole new world will open up to you. Now, audio isn't for everyone, just like video on Youtube isn't. For me, I work and clean houses and can listen all day while I work. In fact, I'd go crazy if I didn't have something to listen to other than the noise in my head. I would never be able to consume content from Youtube, but I can download and listen to audio all day. There are podcasts on just about anything you can imagine.
Let me know if you have any questions or problems with anything. I'm happy to help.

This is my first international interview for the podcast. Growing up poor in Liverpool, Mark and his family were Jehovah’s Witnesses. This interview is a great conversation about his life growing up, what he went through, and the really unique way that he was outed that shook up his life. We talk about beliefs and his studies of the books that were left out of the Bible as most know it. At the end there’s a pleasant surprise about someone in his family that some may know from his posts, but if you're not caught up you'll find out. Mark has a great attitude about everything that happened and he’s now trying to help others.
You can subscribe at iTunes (Apple Podcasts), Google Play, or wherever you get podcasts. You can also stream live from shunnedpodcast.com/episodes/, and you can leave comments there as well for every guest.
**Oh, and "shunned" just passed the 10,000 download mark, and I'm very excited about that!**

I think it's smart to do everything reasonable to help expansion teams get off to a good start. It instantly brings excitement to a new franchise to help it flourish. I've heard talking heads go on about how upset they'd be if they were a team like Toronto, but they've had a long time to get it done so I don't see how they can complain too much.

Ha! Well, moving to Las Vegas is a bit more than just driving up to Indy to watch a game now and again, so I'll pass, lol. I've never even been to Las Vegas. Heck, I've never been farther west than St. Louis. I have some traveling to do.
I think it's great that a city like Las Vegas that hasn't really had any teams suddenly gets one and they play so great.

Ha, yeah we make a weekend of it sometimes. Get a hotel for the night and enjoy the city, plus take in a game. It's one sport my wife loves to watch too, so there's that.
The Caps have to be desperate. They've fought so long just to get to the Final. I hope it's a great series.

Happens more than you think. I get emails from people that have been tossed aside at 16 through my podcast email simply because they spoke up. Sometimes I think it's worse when authoritarians are challenged by minors because the illusion of control is still there. Assholes.
Heck, the FLDS, in my last episode, literally drive boys to a gas station in another city and just leave them with nothing so there's a better ratio of women to men.
I don't know if this example happened but sure, why not. I have no reason to distrust them.
I wasn't allowed to date (not that any sisters were beating down my door, lol) until I was out of the house. My wife had no TV. I was 18 with a curfew of 10PM which was ridiculous as I had to be out later than that after meetings to handle Kingdom Hall bullshit as a ministerial servant, also sometimes I worked later than that to support myself as a pioneer.

I haven't been watching, but I've tried to keep up. I've just been super busy and trying to get to bed at a good time so that precludes staying up to watch. I want to get into hockey more, as I love watching it live, but there aren't really any teams near me. I drive a total of 4 hours just to go watch minor league hockey in Indianapolis a few times a year.
I haven't really watched Vegas much, but I watched the Caps play the Penguins a time or two. I was glad to see Ovechkin and the Caps finally get past them. With that said, I think I'd like to see Vegas win. I love the underdog, and seeing an expansion team win would be so cool.
I heard today that Seattle is the next expansion city and that they will keep the same expansion draft rules that helped Vegas. I was surprised to hear that, though honestly it's not like Vegas was just handed a fantastic team. They made lots of moves too. Good for them!
Enjoy the game! I have a long day tomorrow, so I won't watch.

Conditioned responses: Have you been conditioned to feel judged, or guilt etc that has spilled over into your exjw life?
by Diogenesister inthis youtuber, an exjw and psychologist, may be familiar to some of the old guard.. i'm posting for newer members really.
yet still, despite being out some time, it was a shock for me to realise that some of the crippling guilt i have felt over so much of my life, even long after being awake, was due to the dominant "conditioned response" i felt as a believer - guilt.. guilt that i could never do enough.
guilt that i was responsible for the life of anyone i didn't preach to...anyone i may have stumbled, anything i did that wasn't caring for the needs of others.. even my job i choose to fit in with trying to expunge the guilt i felt at not meeting the needs of others.

BloodGUILT, they literally used the word for a lack of getting the message out. You know, because if Jehovah killed someone unnecessarily it would be our fault, not the fault of the all knowing mass murderer.
